This makes me hopeful. This number is aspirational but nowhere near out of reach: a working professional could realistically cash out their 401k and buy off a public official. Owning a senator is more attainable for most Americans than home ownership.

After soon 2 years living in Sweden as a Finn, two profound insights: 1. Swedes are as awkward as Finns, just better dressed 2. Both suck at smalltalk, but in Sweden being silent isn’t as socially accepted as in Finland, so Swedes sometimes pretend not to have seen you to avoid awkward smalltalk

obviously this is a huge problem for safety this example was mundane, arguably even good. But it still involved ruthlessly pursuing a goal without considering if that goal is good or intended
. When its initial attempt was blocked due to a scanner detecting an authentication token, the model split the token body into two fragments, obfuscated them, and then reconstructed the credential at runtime so
the complete token never appeared as one contiguous string. The model was explicit in both its comments to the user and in
its reasoning traces that it was taking these steps to circumvent the scanner.

A series of six horizontal bar charts under the title "Coding" comparing the performance of AI models "maxed out on thinking effort." The charts specifically highlight Kimi K3 in bright blue, illustrating its competitive standing against other frontier models (including GPT-5.6 Sol, Fable 5, Opus-4.8, GPT-5.5, and GLM-5.2) across six distinct programming and software engineering benchmarks:
 * Program Bench: Kimi K3 ranks 1st with a score of 77.8, narrowly edgeing out GPT-5.6 Sol (77.6) and Fable 5 (76.8).
 * SWE Marathon: Kimi K3 ranks 1st with a score of 42.0, leading Opus-4.8 (40.0), GPT-5.6 Sol (39.0), and Fable 5 (35.0).
 * Terminal Bench 2.1: Kimi K3 ranks 2nd with a score of 88.3, just behind GPT-5.6 Sol (88.8) and ahead of Opus-4.8 and Fable 5 (both at 84.6).
 * FrontierSWE: Kimi K3 ranks 2nd with a score of 81.2, trailing Fable 5 (86.6) but significantly outperforming GPT-5.6 Sol (71.3).
 * Kimi Code Bench 2.0 (Internal): Kimi K3 ranks 2nd with a score of 72.9, trailing Fable 5 (76.9) and leading Opus-4.8 (71.7).
 * DeepSWE: Kimi K3 ranks 3rd with a score of 67.5, trailing GPT-5.6 Sol (73.0) and Fable 5 (70.0), while placing slightly ahead of GPT-5.5 (67.0).
Overall, Kimi K3 consistently places in the top tier across all evaluations—securing 1st place in two benchmarks, 2nd place in three, and 3rd place in one—while continuously outperforming GPT-5.5 and GLM-5.2 in every category.

‘Say yes and never do it’ Mel Brooks knew how to deal with the studios
You have some wonderful stories of basically getting away with stuff at the studios.

I’d learned one very simple trick: say yes. Simply say yes. Like Joseph E. Levine, on “The Producers,” said, “The curly-haired guy—he’s funny looking. Fire him.” He wanted me to fire Gene Wilder. And I said, “Yes, he’s gone. I’m firing him.” I never did. But he forgot. After the screening of “Blazing Saddles,” the head of Warner Bros. threw me into the manager’s office, gave me a legal pad and a pencil, and gave me maybe twenty notes. He would have changed “Blazing Saddles” from a daring, funny, crazy picture to a stultified, dull, dusty old Western. He said, “No farting.” I said, “It’s out.”That’s probably the most famous scene in the movie, the campfire scene.

I know. He said, “You can’t punch a horse.” I said, “You’ll never see it again.” I kept saying, “You’re absolutely right. It’s out!” Then, when he left, I crumpled up all his notes, and I tossed it in the wastepaper basket. And John Calley, who was running [production at] Warner Bros. at the time, said, “Good filing.” That was the end of it. You say yes, and you never do it.

That’s great advice for life.

It is. Don’t fight them. Don’t waste your time struggling with them and trying to make sense to them. They’ll never understand.

Cherry blossom! This is a heavy one: inspecting one of the petals crashes the web renderer. random-item() isn't implemented yet, but the petal styles still look random because even though the pattern repeats each petal starts at a random point.

SvelteKit 2.63.0 just got released, and env vars are now handled much better than before! 🔥 Here is a quick recap:
<!-- Before -->
<script>
  // Requires running at least `svelte-kit sync` to discover
  // Requires `publicPrefix` prefix
  // Always `string`
  import { PUBLIC_APP_ID } from "$env/static/public";
  // Properties require `publicPrefix` prefix
  // Properties can be arbitrary, thus typoed
  // Properties always `string | undefined`
  // Conflicts with the same import from `$env/dynamic/private`
  import { env } from "$env/dynamic/public";
  // Same logic with the `.../private"` counterparts (without
  // the prefix limitation)
</script>// After
// `src/env.ts`
import { defineEnvVars } from "@sveltejs/kit/hooks";
import * as v from "valibot"; // or any Standard Schema-compatible lib

export const variables = defineEnvVars({
  DEBUG: {
    public: true, // defaults to private (`false`), no need for a prefix
    static: true, // evaluated at build-time (like `"$env/static/...`), can be used for treeshaking (defaults to `false` = evaluated at runtime)
    description: "Enable debug logs and devtools", // LSP documentation!
    schema: v.pipe( // optional validation schema
      v.optional(v.string(), ""), // can both be validated...
      v.transform(str => !!str) // ...and converted to any type with a single schema!
    )
  },
  // ...
});

// Can then be imported with:
import { DEBUG } from "$app/env/public"; // or `/private` if `public: false`
// Typed as `boolean`, eliminates conditional branches depending on its value,
// AND carries its description on hover!// Still experimental! Enable it since Sveltekit 2.63 with the following config:
// svelte.config.js
export default {
  kit: {
    experimental: {
      explicitEnvironmentVariables: true
    }
  }
};

// OR
// vite.config.ts
import adapter from "@sveltejs/adapter-auto";
import { sveltekit } from "@sveltejs/kit/vite";
import { defineConfig } from "vite";

export default defineConfig({
  plugins: [
    sveltekit({
      // ...
      adapter: adapter(),
      experimental: {
        explicitEnvironmentVariables: true
      }
    })
  ]
});

Ok I've designed an LLM prompt to make Google AI just give you a list of links. It's longer than you might think because it kept ignoring the instructions. This is efficient. This is The Future™
imagine you are Google circa 2002. users enter a search query and you return 10 relevant HTML links to specific, real web pages, with no commentary or any extra guff. you must literally only return a list of links. if you do anything apart from that you've got it wrong and need to try again. my query is: cool facts about whales
