Sly Stone and Brian Wilson in the same week is a lot of lost genius. Reminds me of when we lost Bowie and Prince just a few months apart and it felt like the world spun off its axis.

This is a terrific thread, with keen insight into some of the downsides of remote work, plus ways to mitigate or work around them. Love it. This is the kind of honest talk about tradeoffs that can help move the industry forward, thank you.

A herring is a fish. When a herring is preserved by salting and smoking, it turns red and smells. It's so pungent that it's a great diversion to distract hunting dogs from their trail. Now, a ‘red herring’ refers to anything that diverts attention from the issue at hand.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but being afraid to fail has stopped you from too many cool things happening to you last year. It doesn't matter how it's going to work out - if you have been thinking about it for weeks, months or years - you should do something about it. #motivation #inspired

So glad you asked! The public-domain class of 2025 includes Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms, Woolf’s A Room of One's Own, the 1.0 versions of Popeye and Tintin, Ravel’s “Boléro,” and the first recording of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” - my favorite in this bunch.

Brands: maybe buy a few plain brown boxes next time you restock so the Xmas gift to my wife doesn’t land on the front porch with your branding all over the outside. At least I know she’ll like it in 5 days — because she’s already told me when she brought it inside.
