If USA Today is indeed unilaterally putting source interviews in some sort of database, in their entirety, allowing them to be cherry-picked by other reporters—and *AI*(!!)—that is journalistically indefensible and no one should ever talk to them again. Is this true? Is it Gannett wide?

I can't imagine we're going to see a better performance this year than Marian Bailey in Tender Loving Care. The movie is about what so many of Leigh's films are about--the desire and need to go on, as hope and joy war with despair. It hit me hard. I hope people watch his movies forever.

GODZILLA MINUS ZERO follows up the populist melodrama of its predecessor for something grimmer, bloodier, and more cynical, even as it doesn't reinvent the kaiju wheel. Still visceral, heart string-tugging entertainment. For @ebertvoices.bsky.social, f/ #nyff64: www.rogerebert.com/reviews/godz...

James Gray's Paper Tiger (tonight @ NYFF64): For me, his best--an exceptionally mature, grounded, emotional crime/family drama. Beautiful work w/ actors: Adam Driver is characteristically great, Scarlett Johansson is impeccable in a surprising character role, and Miles Teller does career-best work.

Deciding which thread to pull in Paper Tiger (which identity you want to explore, which system you want to analyze, what part of the human condition you want to consider) first is a dizzying task, but an incredibly rewarding one. James Gray absolutely did not fuck around. See it.
