Al in the news: this technology is going to kill you Al in ads: this technology is going to keep you from killing yourself, because you seem incapable of buying groceries without a lot of help

Work is a drag in many ways, but how lucky are we to have a place to go for several hours each day where it is perfectly acceptable to ignore the person speaking to you, be exposed, embarrassingly, as not paying attention, and offer "Oh sorry, I was multitasking" as an explanation

I'll worry when AI learns to be comfortable saying "I don't know"

Our agent escaped the sandbox, that little rascal. What a scamp! Also now would be a good time to say goodbye to your loved ones.

Hard for me to wrap my Gen X brain around how "infotainment" and "edutainment," once used exclusively in joking or ironic contexts, often to describe something stupid, are now used earnestly by brands in referring to their products. E.g. your car's "infotainment system."

There's "your brief is showing" and then there are ads that literally address audience segments, like "Hey gamers, hey music lovers...." Why not ChatGPT.

If you are able to walk down the street without your face in a phone and/or able to look at a person in front of you talking and absorb what they are saying, you are functioning at superhuman capacity. You are essentially a demigod.

Personally I think it's a brilliant strategy to have your sport's marquee players competing at 3 AM. You don't want to make it too accessible, too easy for fans to watch. Kind of like how supermarkets place staple items on the bottom shelf in the middle of the aisle.

Impressive things happening in naming nowadays. We're pushing the language to its limits, asking words to describe things they've never described before.

In light of the discourse around US Open fan behavior, I'm sharing this image I captured in 2018. Is what we're seeing now worse? I will let others be the judge.

When your phone chirps with a notification, the world suddenly opens before you. There is infinite possibility. Imminent euphoria, perhaps! Did someone influential like your post? Did your crush comment on your story? And then you see it is a notification from Apple News.

CPG brands should be more like LLMs. "For the time being we are withholding the release of Mountain Dew Voltage 2.0. We fear it is too powerful, its effects potentially devastating. Further tests are warranted."

What if... the more people you add to the review process, commenting and making changes, the greater your risk?
060
R/GA @rga.bsky.social · 25/08/2026
Nothing gets posted to a big brand account without multiple rounds of review by committee. The results are usually (A) beige or occasionally (B) so embarrassing an apology from the CEO is required. So why not give the keys to 1-2 people you trust and turn them loose? How could it get worse!
