And here's the picture for terminal 1: www.aeroport-roissy-cdg.com/images/plan-... You can't get from one side to another once you go to departure so it's important to distinguish between them.

I think they correspond to different passport regimes. This link shows why current terminal 3 (new terminal 2) has two letters Schengen non-Schengen: es.maps-paris.com/img/0/cdg-te...

Are they the numbers for the physical locations for parking aircraft? My guess is that they want to align these two sets of numbers.

My guess is that the goal is to fix the mess here www.ifatc.org/gates?code=L... You can see that multiple terminals have gates that start with the same letters!

So the buildings are the terminals, broken down into one or more departure halls, which correspond to some number of gates.

Yes I see that. The FAQ has more information. Yes, from 16 March 2027, boarding gates will also adopt a new numbering system with a letter and two digits to simplify orientation in the terminal. Each boarding area will be represented by a unique letter.

Terminals 1 and 3 are very much satellite terminals away from the main area, so it makes sense that they are the new 1 and 2. And I expect that any future growth would be centered around the current terminal 2.

Christopher Hanusa @mathzorro.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
A porte d'embarquement is a gate, not a lounge, which is part of the confusion. Actually the new terminal numbering makes a lot of sense. 2A and 2C have been joined at the hip and so are 2B and 2D. They are also in the same direction from the TGV station / growing surface transit hub.

As this excellent story notes, the city probably should reconsider Lyft's monopoly and allow a dockless bikes such as Lime. I've come around on the idea and think the wider availability of bikes would not just spur some competition but would also be a catalyst for the further growth of cycling.

Poster for "On the Role of Illustration in a Large Language Landscape," a discussion on mathematical illustration and AI. Features three speakers: Edmund Harriss (Univ. of Arkansas), Katherine E. Stange (CU Boulder), and Chaim Goodman-Strauss (MoMath), each shown in a circular portrait. Event details: Friday, Oct 9 (9 AM Pacific / 12 PM Eastern / 6 PM Central Europe) on Zoom. Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

The fiscal year is over. The dying Social, Behavioral, and Economic division of NSF ended up awarding 90 total grants this year, as opposed to ~700-800 in recent past years. Source: grantwitness.org/nsf/analyses...
The graph shows the cumulative number of awards made by month across this fiscal year, as compared to the last 6 fiscal years. The line for this year is total flat until June, but then finally gets up to 91 by October. In prior years the increase starts building earlier and ends on average in the 700-800 range (with variability, last year was only between 400-500).
