The Government has announced the first of their ‘nine new river walks’: a section of the River Mersey near Stockport. Yet what’s being presented as a national breakthrough is, in reality, a set of long-overdue local council upgrades to existing riverside paths. A skim through the details... 🧵
A new river walk will be created along the River Mersey between Stockport and Manchester - the first of nine such paths promised by the government for locations nationwide.

This exact same reporter was ousted from the NY Times for soliciting a $30,000 donation from Epstein— and you're telling me that as an employer, the NY Times never bothered to circle back and review this person's correspondence with a convicted pedophile?

“A situation in which the occupant of the White House can make such momentous changes on his own, unchecked, reflects serious political decay in American politics.” Holding out for some dismal deal with Trump will not be worth the very high price we’ll all pay for it. economist.com/by-invitatio...
The tariffs cast a dark cloud over the global economic outlook. But the damage they will do to America goes far beyond the national accounts. As Richard Cooper, an economist who served in the Carter and Clinton administrations, pointed out long ago, "trade policy is foreign policy." These tariffs-on friend and foe alike, as Mr Trump likes to say-are almost certain to push friends away. It isn't easy to have good diplomatic relations with a rogue power that flippantly and capriciously blocks trade. Co-operation with allies on all manner of issues, from security to public health, is likely to suffer. Mark Carney, Canada's prime minister, was not being loose with his words when he said recently that the long-standing cooperative US-Canadian relationship is
"over". Europeans are thinking the same thing. And trust, once lost, is hard to rebuild.
