Our Govt is intransigent on this issue of injustice for nearly a thousand prisoners. Its suggested plan is far too slow. Two better plans were suggested last night by two very learned Peers, but the Govt rejected both. We won't give up.

The police’s facial recognition algorithm has been shown to be flawed, racially biased and biased against women. A system like that should be paused immediately until it can be properly fixed.

A 2,000 year-old blue glass wine cup inscribed in Greek ‘EYΦPAINOY EΦωПAPEI’ “Be glad that you are here” Roman drinking cups like this were used to welcome guests at social gatherings. 1st century AD 🍷 📷 Corning Museum of Glass #EpigraphyTuesday #Archaeology
The Corning Museum image shows a small, rounded cup made of deep blue glass. The vessel has smooth horizontal ridges around the body, a short cycindrical neck with outsplayed rim, and a concave base. Around the middle, there is a Greek inscription in a band around the circumference (EYΦPAINOY EΦωПAPEI) It translates as ‘be glad that you are here’. Height 7 cm, diameter (max): 8.8 cm. Gold bracelets of King Ramesses II. Decorated with two little duck heads. 🦆 🦆 😍 Body lapis lazuli. Dynasty 19. Reign of Ramesses II, 1279-1212 BC. Found in a hoard of jewels, gold and silver plate, during railway construction at Tell Basta (Bubastis) in 1906. NMEC, Cairo. 📷 by me #Archaeology
My photos show two gold bracelets, each formed by two semi-circles connected by a hinge and a clip. They have rich granulated ornamentation in a series of geometric patterns. The upper part is decorated with relief heads of two ducks with necks bent forwards and resting on a single body created with lapis lazuli. The tail is decorated with small granules of gold. The cartouches of Ramesses II are engraved next to the fastener (not seen). Max diameter 7.2 cm. Dated Nineteenth Dynasty, Reign of Ramesses II, 1279-1212 BC. Discovered in 1906 with a hoard of jewels and gold and silver plate at Tell Basta (Bubastis) during railway construction works. On display at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo.

Why are some protesters given statues and some peaceful protesters arrested by police, and put into gaol by judges? This is gross hypocrisy by our authoritarian Govt that is trying to suppress dissent.

As Reeves travels to Riyadh to discuss trade, Saudi Arabia is in the middle of an execution spree. The UK must not cosy up to regimes with appalling human rights records. Trade deals can’t come at the cost of our values; our govt must not prioritise profit over human rights.

Amazing news. We have very few busses and very few trains in North England. In Hull, East Riding & Humberside the busses are slow, dirty and expensive. I get excited to go back to London to see electric busses on roads. Now, we need cheap, fast, green public transport for everyone.

Another busy and rewarding week up and around London, teaming up with safer streets campaigners, TfL workers, and more.   Check out what I’ve been up to this week! 👇
A square tile with text laid over an image of Caroline and Carla listening to people at a demo a few banners in background.

Logo top left Caroline Russell Green London AM

With ticks and text below:

Spoke with residents trying to improve safety measures on Camden Road, where traffic lights prioritise vehicles but offer no safe crossing time for pedestrians. A local petition is calling for urgent action.

After securing a promise from the Mayor to support TfL workers affected by skilled worker visa changes, I joined RMT union and impacted workers outside Parliament to call on the government to pause and review the policy.

Joined a cross-party Assembly panel hosted by Young Make Votes Matter to discuss the importance of working across political lines in a proportional representation system.

Visited Upper Tooting Road to see the impact of backstreet car trips where locals have complained that it’s making walking and cycling unnecessarily stressful and unsafe.
