First #SixOnSaturday of October and something different. My house is tiny, the rear garden small but the front minuscule. Here is proof. The main picture is a narrow border crammed with colour. *Details in Alt text. #UKGardening #Bloomscrolling #EastCoastKin #PhotographersOfBluesky
From main picture, clockwise: the narrow shared border between my terrace home's front drive and my next door neighbour, who gives me free rein. White and pink Cosmos have returned from previous years. Blue Ceratostigmas were bought at the supermarket on offer and have spread. Recent additions include light lavender coloured Ageratum (for the bees) and a rusty red Echinacea. Old friends are a rambling rose that once climbed a fence that is no longer there; yellow flowers on a Honeysuckle, that's on a fence that survived between my property and my other neighbour; purple Pansies in a blue pot that has been planted with Spring flowering Tulip bulbs; pink and white Hydrangea blooms that were all but dead during the drought but are struggling back to life now, by the bird feeders; Michaelmas Daisies by my green front door; a close-up of the Ceratostigma flowers, also known as Plumbago.
Maybe next week I shall do a tour of my vast estate out back. 😂

The local bin lorries (garbage trucks) all have names chosen by ratepayers. Binderella goes past one of the mighty Oaks and the sign on our village green this afternoon. #AlphabetChallenge #WeekMforMachinery #ClassicMono #ColorADay #BWFri #ECK #PhotographersUnited #PhotographersOfBlueSky
The waste lorry named Binderella swings past one of the Oak trees at the corner of the green and nears the wrought iron sign that bears the village name plus a depiction of a shepherd with his flock and dog. The sky is filled with white fluffy clouds.

I walked across the village green this afternoon and, after the days of drought, it has now returned to its normal preferred colours … with some exceptions. It is, after all, October and today is #FungiFriday, so here is what I found in a few short steps. #ECK #Nature #PhotographersOfBluesky
Fungi all the way plus one of the mighty Oaks in a corner of the green. The roots around these big trees are happy hunting grounds for fungi, as are the leaf-strewn ditches alongside the road. I'm not an expert, so I leave the naming of these fungi to others.

Some nights the view from my little back garden in a small English village is worth a billion pounds to me. Sky on fire a couple of minutes ago. This morning it was the Moon putting on a show and now the Sun has decided he ain't going to be upstaged by that gal. #Scape #Sunset #Sunset #Photography
Staggeringly fiery sky as the sun goes down, turning trees to black silhouetted onlookers.

Cotswold stone buildings with stone roofs, most houses here are thatched but I love this little interesting corner.

Home, Work, Dream, Repeat for #BlueSkyArtShow theme of #3rdPlace Tricky one to explain in a photograph so info in the alt text. #EastCoastKin #ECK #photograph #eyeball (Android phone camera)
This week's theme was a difficult one to capture in an image. Besides home and work, third place would be my mind. In fact, those three options shift and change order regularly. I'm a daydreamer and very much connected to the universe, so often exist in different realms. Fourth place would be near the sea but we were tasked with third, so it's a bit of a wacky one to those not wired like me.

Image shows a photograph of my eyeball. It was taken using my phone by my Optometrist who was giddy with excitement at the 'dust' I have, and knowing I'm a geek wanted me to see it too.

The photograph has a black background with a macro golden eye, distorted in places by shadows and light. The black pupil in the middle is ringed with a thin sliver of what looks like fire. Within it are some specs of what can only be described as biscuit crumbs. The iris surrounds it, which on the left side has a texture like cracked tan leather. On the right it glows white and yellow in the light of the Optometrist's torch.

Morning #BlueSky ☕️ Is this another thinly veiled excuse to show a picture of the pups or is it matching today’s theme of where l come in the pecking order? Have a great day friends ☺️ #ECK #BlueSkyArtShow #3rdPlace #Photography #PhotographyOfBlueSky #PhotographersOfBlueSky #BlueSkyDogs #BillAndTed
Our photograph shows two small dogs sitting together on a large, plush turquoise armchair in a warmly lit room.

Ted, on the left, is a small, fluffy dog with golden-brown and cream fur. He has a mostly white face with warm tan markings around his ears and forehead, large dark eyes, and a black nose.

His ears are floppy and slightly feathered. Ted is sitting at an angle, with one front paw resting over the edge of a deep blue cushion. He looks directly towards the camera with a gentle, alert expression.

Bill, on the right, is a smaller black dog with distinctive tan and white markings. He has upright, pointed ears, a white muzzle and chest, and tan markings above his eyes, on his cheeks and legs.

His fluffy tail rises behind him, curling upwards. Bill is sitting upright beside Ted, looking straight at the camera with a curious, confident expression.

The dogs are nestled closely together on the chair, partly surrounded by blue and turquoise cushions. The chair’s soft, oversized upholstery creates a cosy setting.

Behind them are windows with pale blinds, a leafy green houseplant and a decorative object. Beneath the chair is a polished wooden floor, adding warm golden-brown tones to the scene.

It is a warm and affectionate portrait of Ted and Bill together, looking proudly into the camera from their favourite cosy chair.

Finally, our picture today is finished with a simple white border frame.

Photograph taken looking up a wide dirt path leading through the pine trees in Mere Sands Wood, Lancashire. This was taken in the summer but it's been so soggy this week I wanted to post a brighter image. The trees are really tall with most of their leaves at the very top leaving quite a bit of daylight getting through the canopy layer to the bushes on the ground. Dappled light on the path. Blue sky overhead.

Levant mine and Beam Engine, Cornwall. Part of the Cornish Mining World HeritageCoast. (Some history in ALT) #AlphabetChallenge #WeekMforMachinery #Cornwall #History #Landscape #Photography
At first the men spent a third of the shift getting up and down the mine shaft before a steam driven beam engine was introduced. It enabled miners to move up and down on moving ladders because the shaft was crooked and cages could not be used. Mining copper at Levant started in 1787. In the 19C the mining was mainly for tin.The mine is at St Just not far from Land’s End.
The shaft went down 310 metres.
The mines stretched out 1.5 miles, 2.5 km, under the sea and reached depths of 600 to 640 metres! In 1919 a rod and beam broke and at the time approx 140 men were using the shaft which was run by the man-engine moving the ladders up and down.
31 miners died and many more were injured.
The man-engine was never repaired and work ceased at Levant’ s deepest shaft.
Mining did continue up until 1930.
The steam engine was restored and opened by the National Trust in 1992.
Many volunteers work to maintain this amazing piece of history.
Seeing the engine room and hearing the history brought home to me the danger in the industry.
There is a later part of the mine built in the 1960s which you can view part of by going down steps, that mine used cages. I didn’t go down as I’m a bit claustrophobic !
