My new ANR project has officially started yesterday! #MECHAMORPH will unravel some secrets of the evolutionary success of #snakes! We will look at head and skull shapes and their multiple functions using an interdisciplinary approach. Stay tuned! Special thank to my brother for his killer logo 💚🐍

Around 80 million years ago, early snakes were already living underground, on land and at sea. Fossils suggest they evolved along multiple ecological paths, not just one. doi.org/hcd7vm

Early snakes explored life underground, on land and at sea
Snakes are highly modified lizards, with more than 4,000 living species today. The origin of snakes has long been one of evolutionary biology's most debated questions.

Le monde académique a ses défauts et il a parfois du mal à remettre en question certaines choses face aux personnalités à forte visibilité, mais il est appréciable que parfois il réussisse à prendre des mesures fortes pour montrer que l'éthique compte !

So…about AI’s energy use… “…to create a five-second video, a newer AI model uses ‘about 3.4 million joules, more than 700 times the energy required to generate a high-quality image’. That's the equivalent of running a microwave for over an hour.”

Different enamel thickness from different snake teeth of different sizes with a small-sized tooth with a thick enamel layer in Liodytes rigida (D), a small-sized tooth with a thin enamel layer in Micrurus psyches (E), a large-sized tooth with a thin enamel layer in Boa constrictor (F), a medium-sized tooth with a medium thick enamel layer in Naja annulata (G). Fractured and detached enamel observed in Fordonia leucobalia in SEM and in CT longitudinal sections (H), and enamel layer observed on the anterior facet of a Clelia clelia tooth (I) compared to the enamel present in all tooth facets in Atractaspis engaddensis in the microscopic image and virtual section
