Mel & I spent Labor Day kayaking at a fav state park, & had some great #nature encounters. Highlights were a milksnake, a small gartersnake, cricket frogs, & a box turtle. We found the box turtle swimming across the steam - 1st time I’ve seen one doing that in the wild!
#Snakes 🐍 #Turtles 🐢 #Frogs 🐸 On Monday, I found this milksnake for the 3rd time! 1st was almost 2 1/2 years ago, & the 2nd was 5 months ago.
Mel said I should name it, since we’re familiar w/ each other at this point. So, I’m calling it Mitra (“friend” in Sanskrit).
I hope to see Mitra again in the future.

You can see it vibrating the tip of its tail, which would produce a buzz in dry leaves/debris.
