When I was little, I believed that adult people in charge of stuff were all really smart, because they wouldn't be in charge of stuff if they weren't; like, you couldn't be stupid and still have responsibilities. And while I have been wrong about many things in my life, I was wrongest about that.

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation. Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

I think one of the biggest cleavages in our society that no one talks about is the division between those that think powerful people must be held to a higher standard than non-powerful people and those who think powerful people should be flattered and sucked up to.

I think the Kimmel stuff is quite serious and bad, but taking a rich guy off the air for speech is not as harsh as agents of the state grabbing someone over speech and deporting them without due process, and the latter person is clearly more vulnerable, come on.

Secession is unthinkable, but this is the kind of thing that triggers it. The reporting says the FBI "has agreed" to help, but on what basis? Apparently a senator's request, which is not a law. So, we're looking at a lawless action by FBI targeting another state entity w/in its plain legal authority
Cornyn Says F.B.I. Will Help Find Texas Lawmakers Who Fled State

The senator said the federal agency had agreed to help locate Democratic state lawmakers who left the state to try to block a vote on new congressional district maps.Senator John Cornyn, a Texas Republican, said on Thursday that the F.B.I. had agreed to his request to help track down dozens of Democratic Texas state lawmakers who left the state to prevent a vote on a redistricting plan.

The activation of federal agents could create a standoff between the Trump administration and state leaders in Illinois, where many of the absent Democrats have taken refuge.

The way dems have been campaigning since at least 2016 is summed up in one word. Annoying. And it stems from the middle management style of wanting to see numbers on graphs. Everything is metrics and if the metrics aren't right you dial up the Annoying. Creative thinking is not allowed

It's been obvious for years that, apart from a handful of congressional districts, "Republican-lite" picks up a trivial number of swing voters while depressing base turnout, resulting in a net loss. Problem is, the most influential people in our party prefer a loss to a win by anyone to their left.

So am I reading this court decision correctly? We now have 50 micronations with their own laws interpreting the U.S. Constitution wholly separate from one another? But there's one guy with private law enforcement who is immune from all punishment who can do whatever he wants in those 50 states?

The biggest thing we need to do is let people know that the protests are FUN. Yelling fuck the man is fun. You will meet fun people. We also need to make them more fun. Bring grills like the French. Bring instruments like it’s Mardi Gras. Give people a reason to spend their weekend in the streets.
