You shouldn't be allowed to be jealous of countries like Italy and France getting a variety of anime from the 70s to the 90s if you consistently complain about American companies censoring anime because the fact is, they did the same thing over there as well. (1/2)

Sister Helena (or just Sister Hel as she goes)
There’s something particular about her.
She has rather….inhuman strength and durability.
Is she even fully human? Maybe she just has strong faith?….

I decided to look up a tamagotchi parody comic I read years ago by Billyk and Cubert called Tamatown, and lo and behold it's still being updated! Hooray! It's great how Kizatchi has learned to express himself thorough drag (he is the radish)
Drawings of three tamagotchi characters, Mametchi, Kuromametchi, and Tosakatchi, in modern clothing. Tosakatchi is clutching a png of a black electric guitarDrawings of the character Kizatchi as they appear in the Tamatown comic - he is a white humanoid daikon raddish with three green leaves and human clothing. Coastal Carolina, who dubbed You're Under Arrest, did not have their actors perform together. They mention doing it for one scene in their Oh My Goddess commentary track, and you can see their booth setups in the YUA behind the scenes. Their extreme dedication was actually a factor in their closure.
Behind the scenes footage of Natsumi's voice actress, Tamara Mercer, dubbing a scene for You're Under Arrest TV, alone in the recording booth.Behind the scenes footage of Yoriko's voice actress, Pam Weidner, dubbing a scene for You're Under Arrest alone in the recording booth.Behind the scenes footage of Miyuki's TV series voice actress, Juliet Cesario, dubbing a scene for You're Under Arrest alone in the recording booth. From ANN's article on Coastal Carolina closing, ADR director Scott Houle:

"I've always considered Coastal a specialty house because we put over 40% of our income back into production (lots of re-do's to make it sound like the actors were in the same room, an average of 12 hours of mixing per 22 min., extensive attention to detail, etc.)," explained Houle. "Coastal has never made a profit in Anime, but we kept a lot of happy actors busy and woke up every day feeling like we were producing real quality."

the subtext vs explicit text debate is stupid. its all context dependent. subtext is good when it makes me feel smart, while explicit text is good when it makes me feel powerful. both are also good when its funny or horny. if you forget this helpful guide you can find it again deep within your heart

Someone reposted this infamous passage from the late film critic Roger Ebert in response to someone calling for a boycott of the new Resident Evil movie. Feels more relevant today since it was first said 17 years ago.
A snapshot of a quote from Roger Ebert that can be found on Goodreads.

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1192222-a-lot-of-fans-are-basically-fans-of-fandom-itself

This was originally from his review of the 2009 documentary Fanboys, which was collected in a series of reviews for the book "A Horrible Experience of Unbearable Length: More Movies That Suck". It says as follows:

A lot of fans are basically fans of fandom itself. It's all about them. They have mastered the Star Wars or Star Trek universes or whatever, but their objects of veneration are useful mainly as a backdrop to their own devotion. Anyone who would camp out in a tent on the sidewalk for weeks in order to be first in line for a movie is more into camping on the sidewalk than movies. Extreme fandom may serve as a security blanket for the socially inept, who use its extreme structure as a substitute for social skills. If you are Luke Skywalker and she is Princess Leia, you already know what to say to each other, which is so much safer than having to ad-lib it. Your fannish obsession is your beard. If you know absolutely all the trivia about your cubbyhole of pop culture, it saves you from having to know anything about anything else. That's why it's excruciatingly boring to talk to such people: They're always asking you questions they know the answer to.
