It is hard to picture a world in which Tim Schafer "accidentally" laid off specifically every person in his company who had led a Unionization effort or supported it. Very tough to imagine that being an accident, and kind of fatally sabotages Tim's "good guy" vibes.

This is something I've been saying for ages re: how centrists treat the left. If left-wing positions aren't popular enough to win elections, then left-wing voters can't lose an election for you. If left-wing voters can tip an election for you, their positions need to be accommodated.

Hope you all enjoyed your jokes about maskers a couple weeks ago, also, I’m sure unrelatedly, the right wingers are fantasizing about murdering us.
At one point in the script, a 40-year-old woman wearing a "covid mask" rams her car into an ICE van, killing a Latino agent; she is subsequently murdered herself by the slain agent's partner. This plot point has drawn attention due to its direct parallels with the circumstance that led to the killing of Good in Minneapolis by ICE agents in January.

sexual assault is the only crime where we treat committing it like some kind of character development. you'd never say this about an arsonist. rape dehumanizes survivors by treating their consent as immaterial. this narrative does the same. survivors are not here for your character development.

Waxed poetic about that Lanterns show and how its lowest-rated episode had the most to say about a bullshit aspirational platitude.
Black excellence is a term coined, lamentably, during the Barack Obama presidency. It’s meant to celebrate the Herculean efforts Black people make to succeed despite systemic and social barriers like racism, bigotry, and all manner of invisible tripwires that make success harder. Become a billionaire like Beyoncé and Jay-Z? Black excellence. Become president? Black excellence. Become a Lantern? Honey, you just might be a Black Hal Jordan in the making. But every time I hear the phrase, my teeth itch. To me, “Black excellence” lives in the same area code as white people calling a Black man “King” as a compliment—well-intentioned, maybe, but pandering as hell.

My issue isn’t the term itself but the mindset behind it. The idea that Black people must be excellent to be worthy of celebration, status, or privilege. That mediocrity is unacceptable. That you must be exceptional on whatever sliding scale the moment demands, doing twice the work for half the validation. Black excellence is almost never self‑defined—it’s projected onto you, shaped by other people’s expectations rather than your own. It's a prison where your only solace is toxic gratitude for platitudes over self-affirmation. Having John reject that fool’s errand plight as the main hero of a primetime DC Studios series means more to me than any roadmap superhero timeline.

Very saddened to say I won’t be able to headline Tim Pool’s student event in Chicago this week. I unfortunately have other plans.
Hi Katherine,
Timcast Media is partnering with the Chicago Thinker to host a student event in Chicago on October 9 at 4:00 PM.
The event will feature a one-on-one conversation with Tim Pool followed by a live student Q&A. To create a dynamic and balanced dialogue, we are specifically seeking a featured guest to represent a left-leaning perspective.
Timcast Media will fully cover and arrange all travel and accommodations.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
[REDACTED]

Hi Lisa,
Sorry, I'll be too busy slamming my hand in a car door that day to talk with Tim. Hope you understand.

There is a tendency after high profile sexual violence to turn every conversation to prevention. Resist that temptation. It allows perpetrators and those who enable them to escape accountability. And every prevention program is undermined by a context where violence happens without consequence.

I’m gonna make a general comment here: every person who comes into a Black woman’s mentions to say she doesn’t know her intellectual place thinks that race and gender has nothing to do with it. BUT: The decision not to consider how Black women are targeted before commenting is itself misogynoir.

if you only bring up being anti-carceral when it comes to rapists you’re just a rape apologist btw restorative justice requires actually restoring something, not just to the perpetrator, but to the survivors. restorative justice is not ‘the rapist gets to continue on exactly as they were before.’
