2 thumbs up for Manche prefecture! I was seen on the dot of my appt time for my residency card renewal, lovely lady just asked for photo and old card, and took fingerprints. So I worried for nothing. But you never know if you're going to get a nice or a grumpy person until you get there, do you?

Interview and fingerprints for my 10 year residency card this morning - and I've forgotten the original of my EDF bill. Still, not as bad as someone I read about, who'd left it to the last minute to get his photos done for his 10am appointment, only to find the photographer doesn't open until 10am.

Years ago I was on a stag weekend in Poland. We went paintballing. We were chatting to the Polish guys who ran it over beers afterwards and one casually mentioned that British dudes were the ONLY ones who ever seemed to listen and keep their eye protection on. So we explained Byker Grove to them.

PSA if you're in France and plagued by spam calls: I cannot recommend highly enough an app called saracroche. It has 16m dodgy numbers in its constantly updated database and it *just blocks them*. It's spared me an average of six spam calls a day since I installed it. Brilliant.

I want to know if anything on this map was accurate, so I made one based on the actual borough boundaries and census data. Most of the top languages were correct, but the most-common non-English language in Westminster is Arabic (7,446 people), not French (4,876) as shown on the AI map.

English is the most common language everywhere, so the map displays the second most common language. Distinct colours indicate different languages. Romanian dominates much of outer north-east and east London, including Barnet, Harrow, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Bexley. Turkish is most common in Enfield, Haringey and Hackney. Spanish is most common in several central and south-west boroughs, including Islington, Wandsworth, Lambeth, Lewisham, Richmond, Southwark and the City of London. Panjabi is most common in Hillingdon, Ealing and Hounslow. Bengali is most common in Tower Hamlets and Newham. Other boroughs show French (Camden, Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea), Gujarati (Brent), Arabic (Westminster), Nepali (Greenwich), Polish (Merton and Croydon), Portuguese (Bromley) and Tamil (Kingston and Sutton).
