These guys are protesting about 'groups of fighting age men threatening local areas'. You've got to admire the irony.

For years, London's children’s lungs lagged behind. Now they’re catching up. A major new study shows the ULEZ cut exposure to toxic NO₂ and reduced impaired lung function from 14% to 9%.

Introducing Ulez was my hardest decision as mayor of London – but now we know its astonishing impact | Sadiq Khan
Critics said I was attacking motorists. It’s more important for me that the city’s children are no longer breathing dangerous levels of pollution, says London mayor Sadiq Khan

It's now been confirmed that this summer will be the hottest on record. For those opposing bold action on the climate crisis - you're not just putting lives and the planet at risk today, but dooming future generations.

This burning summer is the proof: the voices of climate denial aren’t just delusional, they’re deadly | Sadiq Khan
Look at our blazing forests and parched cities. Green policies aren’t a ‘luxury’, and we can’t burn more oil and gas. People need the truth, says London mayor Sadiq Khan

As we have experienced this week, extreme temperatures are no longer a future threat. They are a present danger. Today, I’m launching London’s first ever heat plan: a city-wide plan to adapt our capital, protect communities, and build a climate-resilient city.
Silhouette of Big Ben and surrounding London skyline at sunset, with a bright sun glowing behind the clock tower and casting a warm orange glow across the sky. Below, on an orange background, bold black text reads: “Get heat-ready, London.” Smaller text reads: “Heat Ready London will protect Londoners from hotter temperatures and help us build a more resilient city.” The Mayor of London logo appears in the bottom right corner.

Sea Lanes Canary Wharf is a fantastic new open water swimming spot in the heart of our city. This spot shows what is possible when we breathe life into our urban environment. I’m focused on cleaning up London's waterways and expanding blue spaces so we can enjoy our city safely. bit.ly/4uMx5kc

Just in case you’re feeling even vaguely optimistic about anything right now, please note that two UK political parties populated & led by profoundly racist people are currently being described as merely ‘right-wing’ in pretty much every corner of the UK media. This is how the worst stuff happens…

Important piece by @resi-analyst.bsky.social this. Successive governments seem not to have understood that your regulatory framework over the longterm shapes who your market participants *are*. If want short-term (i.e. over the next 5-10 years) benefits of planning reform, need to be more active.

X is a cesspit led by an unhinged billionaire who is desperately trying to stir up civil war in Britain. Nobody with any sense or decency should be there. No organisations, government departments, or politicians should be there. Everyone who is, is enabling this monster.

I’m really starting to suspect that most of the tech bros haven’t actually read Tolkien, as they certainly don’t understand it. The gentle hobbits save the “hard men” of Gondor, largely through compassion and selflessness. Not the other way around. The Christian parable is barely hidden!

Off the top of my head, there have been four egregious examples of weapons grade public racism in the last couple of weeks - Jenrick; the Express hack; Captain Concrete & the Reform woman. The way they are treated by employers, punters & wider media, will directly influence how much more we see.

Voters’ anger is largely focused on asylum, and perhaps on low-skilled immigration. The government response seems to be focused on making sure no high-skilled immigrant will ever pick the UK in future, and the ones currently here will rapidly rethink their decision. This will not end well.

Apropos of nothing, I really do think UK journalists and politicians need some reminding that mass deportation of LEGAL immigrants, particularly those with permanent status, is far more extreme than even Trump's America and would basically place Britain completely on its own among democracies.
