Looking for the common ground, there is alway something; for me and slugs it is that we both want to eat the cabbages I grow. Political but not party political. British & European. Brexit was a mistake. I'm too old to bother with age verification.

Always remember ... Brexit was the first salvo in a Putin-backed attack upon the West. The same battle is now being fought throughout Europe. If the UK finally bins Brexit and rejoins the EU, it will be seen as a victory for the whole of Europe — and a decisive strike against Putin-backed populism.

We have so many issues that require solutions that will take more than one parliament to fix (social care, climate change, Europe, NHS, rebuilding parliament etc etc) that being too immature and belligerent to even *engage* in the process of finding a consensus solution should damn them forever.

@theguardian.com this is even worse than the advert plagued Reach news sites. Advertisements between the text and in the margins is one thing. Blotting out the article is another. As a subscriber to your membership scheme I'm no longer sure what the benefits are if I can't even read the articles.
Screenshot of a Guardian news page almost completely obscured with multiple advertisements for Microsoft Excel with Copilot which can't be removed. I can only read the article in the top portion of the screen. The article scrolls but the advertisements do not.Another screenshot. This time the advertisements are the full height of the window and taking up most of the window width leaving only a narrow view onto the newspage which makes it impossible to read the article at all.
