Neurons in the medial temporal lobe do not fire in sequence to object presentation. A working memory experiment revealed theta-locked firing without item order. RNNs mirror this pattern, suggesting memory relies on phase coding, not replay. @stefanieliebe.bsky.social @humansingleneuron.bsky.social
