REVEALED: BAE Systems advised at least 13 British universities on how to repress pro-Palestine protests on campus. A new revelation by Liberty Investigates and Al Jazeera exposes the extent of the influence of BAE in the securitisation and disciplinary measures against students.

Seriously just enforce normal liability for AI on the owners and so much of this shit goes away AI companies want to be treated like the hired expert when it comes to pocketing any financial flows, but like a cursory Google Search whenever it comes to liability

One of the things that is going to change is that we’re never ever again going to be able to be dominated by public officials who tell us, ‘Trust the experts,’” Mr. Kennedy said during the Tuesday session.

“If somebody tells you, ‘Masks work, trust the experts,’ A.I. may tell you otherwise,” he added. “If somebody tells you, ‘Social distancing works, trust the experts,’ A.I. may correct that. And if somebody tells you that a vaccine will prevent transmission and infection, or you need to take it to protect your grandmother, A.I. may say it actually doesn’t do that.”

Again: AI is a technology but it's also an ideology; that ideology is Bossism; neither bosses nor AI advocates really understand what most people do in their jobs so both assume AI can do it. They're *trying* but if these tools could replace jobs beyond Junior Software Developer, we'd know.

So-called AI detection tools might be an even bigger scurge than AI. I was talking today with a student (a senior), who shared that they now have to spend time "dumbing down" their papers--shortening sentences, removing advanced vocab and punctuation--because otherwise they get flagged as "AI."

Sexual victimization history is the best known predictor of a college woman’s grades and one of the best predictors of drop out. It’s also the best predictor of whether a woman who started a male-dominated major like STEM will be able to complete it.

Nearly 40% of survivors who report to their schools are pushed out in one way or another—usually, at the urging of school staff who want them to leave. (In comparison, less than 1% of perpetrators are suspended or expelled.)

The image is of a four panel comic.
The first panel shows Sarah, the protagonist, working at a desk. A brain next to her says, "We need to take breaks!"
The second panel zooms in on Sarah's face. She is annoyed. She says, "What if I don't listen to you?"
The third panel shows the brain smiling.
The fourth panel shows the brain reaching towards a lever. The brain says, "I'LL MAKE YOU."
