@unison.org.uk We are sick to death hearing about how we deserve ‘respect’, ‘dignity’, ‘clarity’, ‘value’ etc.: we’ve had enough of that from Labour over the last two years. What we want is ACTION, whether that’s through the courts, or through cancelling events. You have the power to do this!

The splitting of 'sex' from 'gender' in law or politics really has no utility from my view. Especially if when you discuss 'sex' you mean 'sex at birth and not including intersex people.' That is not a useful category (unless your aim is to discriminate against trans and intersex people).

The British media killed Professor Jason Arday.
the british media
killed jason arday.

professor Jason Arday was hounded to his death by the British press for being black.

we wish to send all our love to Jason and his family.

the brutal campaign of abuse against jason arday was led by
a white supremacist crank. yet instead of ignoring him, the uk media put his claims on every front page. They killed jason.

there is a long history of marginalised people dying at the hands of britain’s press, including trans teacher lucy meadows, who was murdered by the daily mail for being trans.

the media must face consequences.

One of the most infuriating things about TERFs and other transphobes deliberately calling me a man is that I literally have no idea how to think or act like a man... Never have, never will. They're utterly alien to me. It's why I had no friends growing up - because I didn't understand boys at all.

Reminder for all watching the Labour party go "well, we have to enforce segregation of trans people, the law's the law" The UK is not the USA. Parliament is sovereign and Labour have a thumping big majority; they could, trivially, amend the equality act to end this. They are choosing not to.

The UK is falling over itself to update official systems to exclude or out trans people, using "biological sex", "sex observed at birth" etc Yet they said there was no way to update systems to recognise non-binary people with an X marker. Hmmmm 😒

Folded like a house of cards then. @amnestyuk.bsky.social need to understand that this is existential for them. If they fight they might lose, but they’d have some respect. What use is a human rights organisation that backs down and won’t fight for human rights if it upsets the wealthy?

In the days after the Starmer Labour Government was formed they implemented the permanent ban of puberty blockers for Trans kids. In the final Days of Starmer Labour Government they ushered in the Trans segregating EHRC EA Guidance toilet ban. Starmer's Labours first and last acts were anti trans.

carving out exceptions for the nhs in a conversion 'therapy' ban bill means that @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social knows and acknowledges that it's conversion 'therapy'. again it's the sort of thing that's going to taint her historically bcos that's the only conclusion to draw from that.

Nice to hear. The code didn’t have to be this cruel, even if the Scottish Ministers decision stands. The EHRC made a deliberate choice to exclude trans people from public life and twist their interpretation of the law to that end.

The Labour Government has, over the past two years, eradicated trans youth healthcare and overseen the forced detransition of trans youth, and accepted new regulatory guidance that is a segregation charter for trans people. Any genuine ban would immediately criminalise their current policy platform

I can say definitively that if accepted this code of practice will make my life demonstrably worse. Even if I'm never challenged, it still introduces a high level of stress and anxiety any time I need to use a public space. Any time I go to the gym or go shopping or anything comes with more risk.

Good. Women's rights and trans rights are not remotely in conflict. 'Gender critical' belief and trans rights are in conflict, which is why 'gender critical belief' should not be protected - let alone privileged and prioritised, as it is at present.

A little reminder for Andy Burnham. There's no middle ground between people wanting to exist and people who don't want those people to exist. Ironicly, those positions are a binary. You can't exclude trans people from public life in a fair way. You can't do a genocide on us compassionately.

Meet the new toilet monitor, same as the old toilet monitor
5m ago 12.58 BST
Asked about new guidance on single sex spaces, Andy Burnham said: "I think the time has come to take the Supreme Court ruling and the guidance and implement it, but to do it in a way that protects those spaces but does not marginalise already marginalised communities, that's my view.
"My mum and dad brought me up to live and let live. I think Britain needs to get back to a more live and let live' approach to life, not where we're constantly arguing with each other, being judgmental about each other.
"Lets implement the guidance, but to do it in the fairest and most compassionate way possible."
He said he thought Britain had done too much of rerunning arguments. "We've got to stop arguing with each other. We've got to start by finding some common ground and start pulling together," he added.

Surely yuo should have - toilets for cis men - toilets for cis women - toilets for trans men - toilets for trans women - mixed sex for non-binary ppl Otherwise a trans woman is disadvantaged by not being offered a single sex option recognises her transition, whereas cis ppl w/o the PC of GR do.
