The Labour Party’s women’s conference on 26/9/26 was an embarrassing farce, with only 200 delegates of the 1,000 normal attendance (no major unions) in protest of the Labour Party’s shameful abandonment of trans people following the legally absurd ruling of the Supreme Court in FWS in April 2025.

When we talk about dark money infesting our politics we generally think about Reform's Russian links, or the ADF pouring overseas cash into Christian anti-abortion and anti-LGBT lawfare. But here we see dark money in the heart of the Labour movement, quietly funding transphobia and exclusion.

"Concerns". In narrative and policy terms, the "legitimate concerns" paradigm must be one of the greatest political disasters of the modern era. A racism laundry run by centrist pundits and politicians, which has achieved one thing and one thing only: the mainstreaming of the far right.

Yeah, so the 2010s were a long referendum on whether we should 1) be reasonable and decent people, and invest in infrastructure and services, or whether we were going to 2) be abysmal horrible bastards and let the island slide into the sea. I’m afraid politicians and press unified on 2).
two most successful social campaigns in the
UK recently (and which reversed course of an issue that seemed to be going one way) are on the socially conservative or status quo side
- Assisted Dying
- Gender identity/sex based rights

In other areas you've also seen the
'progressive' side see set backs
- Less consensus on net-zero (right/left split)
- Elite consensus moves to lower aid spending
- Shift in attitudes on migration & refugees.
- Drugs legalisation seems a long way off

Is this a global phenomenon? Maybe but equally other countries have legalised AD in same time period. Even in US states continue to legalise e.g. cannabis, ditto Germany, omething that feels a long way off here in UK.
So there does appear to be something particular to Britain.

Aug 21st - Mei gets lost while looking for corn for her hospitalized mother. Mei's older sister, Satsuki, asks Totoro for help. He summons the Catbus. 📽️📅 My Neighbor Totoro (1988)
4 Screenshots from the movie "My Neighbor Totoro" (1988): First, a wooden chair sits in dappled sunlight, holding a watercolor paint set and a sketchbook with green plant drawings. Second, a young girl with pigtails in a pink dress clutches an ear of corn, standing beside a white creature, with the subtitle "No, this corn is for my Mommy!" Third, another girl in a yellow dress sits on the large, furry Totoro's belly in a forest, looking worried, with the subtitle "She must be scared, please help me find her." Fourth, the Catbus, a large, grinning, cat-shaped bus with glowing windows, carries Totoro and the girl with pigtails as it travels above treetops at dusk.

More than one thing can be true. Nathan Cofnas is a racist. No argument there.

Also true: Arday claimed to have been non-verbal until the age of eleven. He span a false narrative about being autistic and mute, then learning to speak and write so well he gained a PhD. What harm did he do to parents with children who're genuinely non-verbal, by selling them false hope?

The UN: "anti-rights movements frame equality for women and LGBTIQ+ people as a threat to so-called 'traditional' family values." They state that these movements encompass "'anti-gender', 'gender-critical'". As per the UN definition, 'gender-critical' IS anti-rights www.unwomen.org/en/news-stor...
"While the contexts and motivations of these movements are distinct, they often overlap in retaliation against what they view as “gender ideology”: a term used to oppose the concept of gender, women’s rights, and the rights of LGBTIQ+ people broadly.

There is a long tradition in which anti-rights movements frame equality for women and LGBTIQ+ people as a threat to so-called “traditional” family values. Movements encompassing “anti-gender”, “gender-critical”, and “men’s rights” have taken this to new extremes, tapping into wider fears about the future of society and accusing feminist and LGBTIQ+ movements of threatening civilization itself.
