🍄🌊 Lovely little sand dune mushrooms. Dune brittlestem (Psathyrella ammophila) spotted at Crimdon beach. 🌱 This fungi feeds on the decaying roots of marram grass.

29 September is Michaelmas, the feast of St. Michael and All Angels. St. Michael, traditionally the celestial warrior who leads the fight against evil, is patron saint of soldiers, paratroopers and police officers. The Michaelmas daisy, or aster, is his dedicated flower.
Collage of Michaelmas daisies in shades of soft lilac-blue. A small copper butterfly rests with open wings on one flower, while a meadow brown feeds on another. Other images show clusters of the daisy-like flowers, with yellow centres, blooming in the late-summer garden.
