It's cool seeing tech companies rethink adding AI to everything after all the negative feedback from customers. My entire life people have told me that being a hater was unproductive and yet time and time again this is proven wrong. Being a hater is an effective force for good if you do it right.

Because I have auditory processing delays, I frequently rely on guessing words based on things that sound similar and what the most likely word to come next in the sentence would be. This is tricky living with my roommate because 90% of what he says are things no one has ever said before.

You guys, if we cleaned the air and wore respirators we could all be not sick together! Wouldn’t that be better than *gestures broadly* all of this?? And then we could drive more flu strains extinct and get close to zero COVID and maybe ward off a bird flu pandemic to boot.

They’ve convinced people AI chatbots aren’t only speaking but thinking, which is plausible if you don’t know how they work. They perform some cognitive tasks, but any logic in their “thinking” is only a residue hidden in our language—its grammar, concepts, etc. in the training data they gobbled up.

This is such a good time of year to take a short break from performing being a woman. Am I wearing a bra under this hoodie? Is my ass fat under these baggy jeans? Do I have a snatched waist? Who knows! This is a mystery not meant for you, assorted CVS customers.

I'm genuinely confused at so much of my feed being filled with "Don't celebrate Charlie Kirk being shot **because** this gives Trump the go ahead to violently crush opposition." Did you mean to add "faster" to the end of that sentence? Like, he wasn't waiting for an impetus. It's happening already

If you have a secret or hidden phone, the government's Emergency Alerts could reveal your device, even if it's on silent or do not disturb. The government is testing emergency alerts on Sunday 7 September. If you're worried this could reveal a phone, you can follow this guide to turn off the alerts
How to keep your phone safe from Emergency Alerts.Steps to secure your iPhone
1. Search your settings for 'emergency alerts'
2. Turn off 'Severe alerts' and 'Emergency alerts'
3. If this does not work, contact your device manufacturer.Steps to secure your Android:
1. Search your settings 'emergency alerts'
2. Turn off 'Severe alerts' and 'Emergency alerts'
3. On Huawei devices running EMUI 11 or older, search your settings for ‘emergency alerts’ and turn off 'Extreme threats', 'Severe threats', and 'Show amber alerts'
4. If this does not work, contact your device manufacturer.Other mobile phones and tablets:
Depending on your software version or phone manufacturer, emergency alert settings may be called different names. They could be called 'wireless emergency alerts' or 'emergency broadcasts'.

You can usually find these settings in one of the following ways.
- Go to 'message', then 'message settings', then 'wireless emergency alerts', then 'alert'
- Go to ‘settings’, then ‘sounds’, then ‘advanced’, then ‘emergency broadcasts’
- Go to ‘settings’, then ‘general settings’, then ‘emergency alerts’
Then turn off ‘severe alerts’, ‘extreme alerts’ and ‘test alerts’.

Reminder that things are in fact worse quality for more money, that no, Elder Gen Z/millennials/gen x, you're not imagining it, nor should you accept it as "the way things are." Shirts I've had 30 fucking yrs are still wearable, but a shirt I've had 2 months & worn MAYBE twice is already unraveling

I’m going to say this louder this time: if you are lying about having a high-risk condition to get a Covid vaccine, all good, do what you want to do BUT show some actual goddamn respect for people who *actually* have that condition and start masking.

These are facts: 1. Each infection increases risk of Long COVID 2. The only way to prevent Long COVID is to not get COVID 3. There's no treatment for Long COVID 4. A single infection can render you homebound/bedbound 5. There is no infrastructure to support you if you become disabled Please mask.

My dear friend was visiting from the US. I mentioned how many people I know in our area with Covid this summer and she gasped. "You have Covid here still? I can't believe you still have Covid!" I checked her city wastewater report. They definitely still have Covid. They just don't know it. 😬

Sometimes, not always. Many type 2 diabetes will still need insulin even if they try their best. But the point here is that no one differentiates between 1 and 2 they just say "diabetes" and it perpetuates ignorance either accidentally or on purpose.

When talking to conspiracy nuts in the past, I've realized that yes they want to feel special, but it's also about control. If you know the tap water is poison, you can protect yourself with a filter. A lot of the grift is based on fear of what you can't control and coming up with a counterspell.

I've been disabled for a very long time, and certain kinds of people have always reacted with this kind of mindless fury and scorn to any precautions I take to protect myself. I get that this generosity comes from a place of compassion, but it's misguided. They don't need PTSD to act like that.

I bet a lot of poor people would be down for that kind of thing. If I subscribed to every news publication I read, it would cost more than a week of groceries. Most people I know can't afford to be informed without a little paywall cheating, but would happily do a pay what you can deal.

I want to pay journalists but I'm on disability so I have to steal any articles I want to read. I've often wished there was some kind of independent journalist centralized money pool I could donate $5-10 a month to that would be shared among the writers. It's not much, but it's more than nothing.

Dreamed that the apocalypse happened and we had to evacuate. Half the dream was spent finding Pearl, packing her cat food, forgetting her medication, going back for it, crawling under the bed, and trying to put her harness on while she screamed. Extremely realistic disaster dream, ty brain.
