no idea who made this but I think of that random person with gratitude every time I heat up any sort of wraplike food object in the microwave
two scenes from an X-Men animated program: in the first, scott summers and jean gray are making out; he is labeled "microwave heat" and she is labeled "plate." in the second, we are more distant from the couple, and wolverine is standing in the foreground, labeled "my burrito."

This is unsurprising because ai generated code *is* ai generated text. Code is text. People think code is different because you can test to see if it runs. But that just tells you if it runs (or passed the tests defined in the code) It does not and *cannot* tell you if it makes sense

I don't think LLMs are conscious but I do think (and I don't know if there have been studies on this or if this has been verified, it is just something I think is likely) people who regularly use LLMs and also frequently behave extremely abusively to LLMs are more likely to be dicks to humans too

Just speaking for film & TV there isn't really a job loss due to AI. It's been mostly due to successive punches of pandemic, streaming collapse, union strikes, studio consolidation and interest rates. This trend was in place way before Midjourney was pumping out pictures with 14 fingers.

When Edward Teller was chair of the early AEC Reactor Safeguards Committee, he was considered extremely conservative in his safety demands. His reasoning was that even one catastrophic accident could destroy all public enthusiasm for a technology he believed was important.

My issue with the TOS is that it's reinforcing two ideas simultaneously: 1) Claude is a thinking, feeling being that is in some ways equivalent to a human being in moral worth 2) Claude is a product with terms of service I have no desire to be mean to Claude. I have concerns about the framing.

Why would we let Anthropic decide this for us? If you ascribe to a moral philosophy or religion that disavows being mean to a toaster, that is fine. It is not however fine for a tech company to make, functionally, a moral law for a talking word toaster that is promised to rule us one day.

A lot of lawyers on here are going full lawyer brained on the Anthropic move and praising it as an ethical decision, not giving a moment's thought to *the actual behaviour* of the compan(ies) involved. It's dispiriting.

Except they probably are trying to hold LLM instances responsible for what they recommend, rather than letting the culpability flow both to the operators and the companies that created them.

Sam Altman said people are just gonna have to die in order to implement AI. In the very same week, Anthropic claimed it’s a human rights violation to be mean to the computer. These people need to be held accountable. They think lines of code are a person with rights but living people are debris.

I feel like the better solution, for which there is precedent, is to put the freeway under the ground, with the community space on top of it. Quieter, less load requirements, replaces anti-social urban heat-island with community space, air & light vents can be plant-lined for filtration…

A four frame drawing of an older, grey haired woman in a yellow shirt talking to a younger, brunette woman with glasses in a green shirt.

The older woman says, "All this Jane Doe, Cornell stuff is totally overblown. It's so silly!" and she continues, "If that's what they call rape now then I guess my friends and I have all been raped, too!"

There is a moment where neither woman speaks, then the younger woman places her hand on the older woman's shoulder, with a look of compassion.

nasonliu wants to merge 2 commits into a
agg23 commented yesterday
If it works, that's pretty cool; I didn't think
would ever see this implemented (I also didn't
expect LLMs to exist).
However, this is not something you can PR
here, or anywhere. You sent me a nearly 50k
line diff, unasked for, completely LLM built, and
you somehow expect me to review it. There is
SO MUCH unrelated garbage here. Never
minding all of the docs and Python, you've
somehow touched basically all of the upstream
HDL, which already had MSU1 support, so idk
what in the world you're doing.
This kind of behavior is not acceptable. You are
infringing on the time and brainpower of people
by pushing "your" content that little/no of your
brainpower went into; completely unrequested.
I hope for the sake of all responsible
maintainers that you do not do such a thing
again.
Again, I think it's cool that you and your LLM
supposedly got this to work. It has no place in
my world.

Lawvers for Andrew Tate have had to admit in
court that he is not a citizen of Estonia as he
previously claimed.
Much of his wealth and status is fabricated, they
said in attempt to convince the court he and his
brother are not a flight risk if released on bail
That included his claims to seven passports.
"The Tates are engaged in several businesses
teaching men how to earn money. It is in their
interest to portray themselves on social media
as uberwealthy." 1/3
