It is also important to note that Cornell doesn't have a journalism major. These are students who may not even plan to make journalism a career, but their dedication to the field is tremendous.

Tim Curry and Dolly Parton have taught us not only that you should be bigger, weirder, gayer, and freakier, but also that those qualities are what people will love about you. The things that make you strange and amazing are the things that will resonate with other strange and amazing people

Happy weekend! Here’s an ancient Egyptian bead in the form of a curled-up blue hedgehog! Look at the little face and paws! 🦔💙 Made of faience around 3,600 years ago. National Museum of Scotland 📷 by me #Archaeology
My photo shows an ancient Egyptian hollow blue spherical bead in the form of a hedgehog curled up in a defensive ball displayed on a grey background. It is made of Egyptian faience, a ceramic material with a shiny blue glaze. The hedgehog's snout, ears, paws and tail are shown in relief, and the quills are represented by black dots painted over the surface of the bead. A smll hole for threading runs through the sphere - it can be seen on the right hand side of the bead in my photo. The hedgehog's long ears suggest this is a desert hedgehog. Desert hedgehogs may have symbolized rebirth to the ancient Egyptians because they reappear after hibernating. Dated c.1985 - 1650 BC. On display at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.

yeah, the piece that got my hackles up most about this whole affair is that Cleves misrepresented Walden in several very easily checkable ways. like, if you're going to be untruthful, put a little more effort into it. don't fuckin insult me by assuming I can't GOOGLE A BOOK COVER lol
screenshot from linked blog post: "I learned this by reading both books, but even if you haven’t read the books, it’s demonstrable from the same online sources that Cleves says support her allegations. She has never linked to any of these sources in her letters or posts, or shared any clips or screenshots, just as she never posted the book cover that she claimed Walden took from her. Her followers were left to take Cleves’s descriptions of these documents on faith."

The push for Harry Potter the TV show is going to be completely enormous—they're debuting it on fucking Christmas—and it is the responsibility of TV critics to contextualize this as rewarding the world's most transphobic billionaire (which is saying something) in everything we write about it.
