@deviantollam.bsky.social How can I get comfortable on planes? I'm always crampy and in pain after 20min or so. Also, i think you mentioned once you keep your backpack in the overhead for some extra legroom. Do you worry about not having it/it getting force-checked at the gate? Ty wiseairplanehuman

You know, it's ridiculous to build data centers and then have the power company sending out emails like, "the grid is in peril! Unplug your TV, toaster, and laptop today for three hours to save energy!" You know what else saves energy?! Knocking down data centers and not building more!

Soviet aviator & cosmonaut Svetlana Savitskaya was the: * 🚀 Second woman in #space (1982) * First woman to fly to space twice, and * First woman to perform a spacewalk (1984) She was born #OTD in 1948. #WomenInSTEM #History
A close-up, historical portrait of Soviet cosmonaut and aviator Svetlana Savitskaya (born August 8, 1948), celebrated as the second woman in space, the first woman to fly to space twice, and the first woman to perform a spacewalk. Smiling warmly at the camera with an open, cheerful, and confident expression, she looks forward with bright eyes, and a wide smile. Her dark brown hair is styled with a distinct straight fringe or bangs covering her forehead, while the rest of her long hair flows over her right shoulder. She wears a white Sokol space suit, visible from the collar up, featuring a prominent blue and metallic metal locking ring for her helmet around her neck and a blue fabric strap across her upper chest. The composition focuses entirely on her face and shoulders against a plain, deep dark background, evoking the vastness of space. The mood is triumphant and inspiring, capturing a historic pioneer of space exploration.

In March, for the first time, renewables supplied more power to the U.S. than natural gas, a milestone in the transition to clean power. However, rising power demand is complicating the shift away from fossil fuels by extending the lives of many aging coal power plants.

NASA isn't why the US doesn't have universal healthcare, or a social safety net. The US doesn't have those things because politicians with the power to provide them choose specifically not to (with varying levels of support from voters). Enthusiasm for human spaceflight doesn't drive that choice.

✅ #Artemis II update: the spacecraft entered the lunar sphere of influence this morning at 05:37 BST/06:37 CEST, 6 April, at about 51 000 km from the Moon (the region of space where the Moon’s gravitational pull is stronger than that of Earth’s). www.nasa.gov/image-detail... @exploration.esa.int
Before going to sleep on flight day 5, the Artemis II crew snapped one more photo of the Moon, as it drew close in the window of the Orion spacecraft. Orion and the four humans aboard entered the lunar sphere of influence at 06:37 CEST on 6 April, at the tail end of the fifth day of their mission. That marked the point at which the Moon's gravity had a stronger pull on the spacecraft than Earth's. Artemis II's closest approach to the Moon will come on flight day 6, as they swing around the far side before beginning their journey back to Earth.

Job seekers are sending out hundreds of applications. Here’s why they’re not hearing back. The unemployment rate has been climbing over the past few years, but historically, it isn’t that high… Even so, some people have been talking about having a really, really rough time finding work.
