Third party advertisers are generating $150 a month in revenue for a site that can raise hundreds of thousands a year from donations. This is just absolute proof that internet advertising has failed as a business model. Instead of capturing some of that revenue they're trying to content police.

They say running FA costs $25k a month. They raised $134k in 48 hours from 1.7k people. Basically, a few thousand people could keep the entire site ad-free for the cost of a doordash order once a year. How do you, as an advertiser, fuck up so bad that you can't even clear that bar.

The people who are supposed to click the ads and buy the products in them are the ones who are gladly paying -more- money than they would -for those products- just to avoid the advertising. That means you've failed, as an ad agency. You're creating negative value for your clients.

A site like FA is probably the highest-value impression a web advertiser could hope for in the modern internet. It's a high-engagement nonalgorithmic monopoly on a specific set of user-generated content. Saying the site needs to -change- so it can attract -less value- engagement is fucking stupid.

Imagine how humiliating it must be for an ad company to demand content changes to a site like FA, only for that to cause the ads viewers to literally pay -more- money directly to FA to get the advertiser to fuck off. Like, the money was there all you had to do was not fuck with it.

Advertisers telling FA that plus sized characters are too sexual, then telling CSP to remove kissing references because it's too sexual, is a great example as to why advertisers are bad, and trying to sanitize the fandom is a waste of time. Advertisers, paypros and puritans belong in the bin.
