Federal Medicaid cuts will affect more than just people on Medicaid. These cuts will also put rural hospitals at risk and drive up health care costs for families across North Carolina.

These are my latest one-of-a-kind raku pieces. No one’s buying right now, and I understand - art isn’t always the priority in difficult times. But I’m still making, and sharing a little beauty feels worthwhile. A like or share might help these pieces find their people. 🙏

Gabrielle Steele ⚔️ Echoes of Chaos out now! @eldris.thellian.com · 18/09/2026
I'm starting to wonder if people aren't interacting with Echoes of Chaos because they think the bird on the cover is genAI? It isn't. It's a *paid* stock image of a watercolour painting uploaded in 2017. I dunno. My reach feels worse than it did with Reborn in Ash last year :\
The book cover for Elements of the Fallen Book One: Echoes of Chaos by Gabrielle Steele. The background is dark blue with a cracked texture. The title is silver with a metallic almost 3D effect. Behind the title is a circular emblem of abstract dragons circling each other, one dark the other light. Beneath the title is a flame-coloured eagle in a watercolour style. Layered over the bottom of that is a marble-effect silhouette of a woman riding a horse with a cat beside it, surrounded by vine-like roots. The horse is rearing and the cat is up on its back legs reaching a forepaw towards the nearest root.

The world is a fuck right now, there's no denying that. So escapism is valuable self-care. But given the state of things, attention spans suffer, right? Well, these 3 books each have 5 stories. All 15 stories complete an arc, but every one also stands alone. Excellent short attention span escapism.

A promotional image for Fighting in the Dark, by AR Moxon.

On the left side, a thumbnail image of the cover of the book, which features the title in blue text in a diagonal, and the authors name in white.

To the right of this, two blurbs, the first of which reads:

"There's a think A.R. Moxon does that I've watched other political writers try and fail at: he holds fury and tenderness in the same sentence. He names the traps fascism sets for us (the false unity, the offer of easy complicity, the fake peace that asks you to pretend people aren't being hurt) more clearly than anyone I've read. This is the book I've been handing out piecemeal for two years, finally in one place."
-Parker Molloy, The Present Age

the second blurb reads:

"In this absolutely brilliant marriage of storytelling and political insight, Andrew isn't afraid to speak truth to power. In fact, he gets up in its face in the middle of the cafeteria and challenges it to a fight."

yes, but fwiw, that's not what he said. Here's the relevant portion of the statement.
In November of 2024, I traveled from outside of New York State to Manhattan. I then emailed United Healthcare leadership posing as an investor at a firm managing over $50 billion in assets and requesting information about the conference. Unlike my previous interactions with insurers, I received an immediate response within an hour. Before traveling to New York, I used a 3-D printer to make part of a gun, and I equipped the gun with the silencer and magazine. My travel to New York and email to United Healthcare was with the intent to shoot Brian Thompson. On the morning of December 4, 2024, I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan and he died. When I did so, I understood that my actions would place him in fear of death or serious bodily injury. I knew what I was doing was illegal.

A little bear figurine carved from amber some 6,000 years ago! 🐻❤️ Named ‘Słupcio’ (‘little guy from Słupsk’) through a children’s naming competition! A hole through its torso suggests it was worn or suspended from a cord, perhaps as a hunting amulet. 📷 National Museum in Szczecin #Archaeology
Photo by G. Solecki/A. Piętak of a small figurine of a bear carved out of amber between 9600 and 4100 BC. The amber is a deep translucent orange. The display lighting makes the amber glow. The bear's head is carved to show ears, mouth, nostrils and eyes. A hole runs through the bear's belly, suggesting it was threaded onto a cord. Dimensions: Length 10.2 cm, Height 4.2cm

It was discovered in Słupsk during peat mining in 1887. According to the museum catalogue record "Shortly after its discovery, the figure underwent conservation work to restore its original appearance as it was covered with a layer of dull patina from the exposure to the minerals contained in the peat. Already at that time, at the end of the 19th century, it was assumed the restoration had gone too far. The figure was stripped entirely of patina, the anatomical features of the animal were emphasised, the eyes and nostrils were sharply drawn, and the amber was carefully polished".

In 2013, a competition was organised by the Education Department of the National Museum in Szczecin, for children to choose a name for the bear. The winning name was 'Słupcio’, an affectionate diminutive meaning ‘little guy from Słupsk’.
