This is obviously disgusting in so many ways. Gonna highlight one: Servicemember beard exemptions are all on religious or medical grounds. They're either Sikhs (mostly South Asian) or have a skin condition related to shaving curly hair (mostly African American). "No beardos" is racist as hell.

Backpack, this year's new champion was injured early in life so she carted him around on her back, changed the pace of her travels so he could keep up, and relocated to a safer & less competitive part of the river. Backpack learned from the best damn bear in the wild. My champion. Holly.

In 2014, she had a cub again. And that was the same year she adopted the yearling, previously mentioned. In 2019, she was reigned Fat Bear Champion, competing against one of her own grown bear cubs.

Holly had a very liberal birthing rhythm, producing new cubs annually like clockwork, except for these years following the loss of her 2009 cub: 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013.

In 2014, Holly also adopted a helpless bear cub that was abandoned by 402 who had to push the helpless cub out on his own ahead of schedule because of a male predator that was pursuing them. (I don't know what became of 402)

Same story with a friend of mine, who is now actually quite famous. She dropped out after my university refused to discipline the two men who raped her, and made her sit in the same class with her in her specialized major. Her planned entire career path ended immediately.

Here's Backpack as a yearling in 2007, unable to put weight on the injured paw. Holly took her cub & moved upriver, away from aggressive bears who might harm him at Brooks Falls. Fishing was harder for the pair, and she risked both of them struggling or starving, but he was SAFE.

Backpack in 2007, nursing an injured paw that is turned under, so that he can't put any weight on it. If you're wondering why they didn't provide vet care, it's their policy not to interfere when an injury is natural and not caused by human activity.

Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.

From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (
