Peppermarcie comic :)
Comic starring peanuts characters Peppermint
Patty and Marcie
P1: patty says "I was thinking, what if Chuck starts dating one of us and then he goes in for a kiss? We're completely inexperienced!"
P2: patty grabs marcie by the shoulders and says
"Marcie! We only have one option, we have to practice with each other! Kiss me!" Marcie says "of course, sir"
P3: they kiss
P4: marcie is wiping off her glasses, saying "By the by, this is the 10th time you've asked to practice kissing, sir. You're allowed to just kiss me y'know."
Patty is blushing with her hands in her face, she is telling marcie to shuddup

I don't understand how anyone can still be a capitalist in 2026 when so much of capital now prioritizes its core functions in capitalism (maximizing profit & minimizing risk) well below, like, exercising unprofitable control over its workers or building clout in a fucking group chat

Capital is literally incapable of recognizing existential threats to its own business models if the solutions require donating like 0.05% of its revenue to some kind of common good. It's not even cynical profit maximization, capital is genuinely just structurally insane

It was already inexcusable that Google specifically being at least very minimally willing to act like a good citizen re: FOSS funding/resourcing waa so load-bearing in the 2000s/2010s, and if we repeat the exact same thing with Anthropic over the next 15 years I'm going to lose my fucking mind

My former boss is currently at Anthropic and hiring. I assume publicly disagreeing with the org won't do me any favors... but neither will quietly allowing cybersecurity to be outlawed. Companies that can't secure their systems are lecturing us on cybersecurity and taking tools from defenders

I reported vulnerabilities to the Linux kernel and OpenZFS assisted by GLM-5.2. Anthropic's cyber program and refusal responses are detrimental to global information security. Defenders depend on GLM because they can't depend on Anthropic.

despite their claims, anthropic is _not_ doing nearly all they can to enable defenders. then, they slap you in the face by doing fear mongering about GLM with a small footnote saying "oh i guess this is good for defenders too, idk" come on lol

Are Linux and Open Source Un-American?
Community
by Steve Coe
on February 21, 2001

Jim Allchin, Microsoft Windows operating system chief, was quoted in an article about open source last week. I advise any Linux user to go and read it if you haven't already, as it's great comedy material.

According to the hive mind of Microsoft, open source should be made illegal. There's no way around it, this is the bottom line. Want to write your own code and release it into the community? Congratulations, come with us Sir/Madam, we have this nice little grey room for you. Don't worry about the bars on the windows, they are there for our protection in case you somehow manage to write a graphics viewer or a Perl script to terrorize the world.

Ordinarily, a mere underling like Mr. Allchin wouldn't be taken too seriously, but Microsoft speaks with one voice, and we all know who he is channeling.

As a member of the Linux and Open Source communities, I am appalled and outraged by his comments and wish to respond. The article shows Microsoft is scared. Very scared. So, will they build a better product? Nah, to hell with it, they'll just get the government to outlaw the competition.

yep. my biggest issue is just how defeatist it is. every website maintainer just learned that they've been vulnerable to a fairly simple ddos-shaped issue. rather than solving that, they decided to run malware on the user's machine and hope the problem will go away in the future.

if the thing you want to say is "i am very mad about ai" it is ok to just say that. people, even """pro ai""" people, are much more receptive to "i am having big feelings" than "i have fully left my own knowledge base to parrot trivially falsifiable lies"
