No doubt this has occurred to other bystanders as well, but it would seem that a handful of billionaires dropping $150 million into a single state's election in an attempt to defeat a wealth-tax initiative just about makes the entire case for a wealth-tax initiative.

Turns out Bethesda’s environmental storytelling of a burned body on the ground with a computer terminal saying, “I don’t think the AI has access to the flamethrowers (I hope)” was kind of prophetic.

Geology Class xkcd.com/3292/
4-panel comic. (1) [Person with ponytail addressing students seated at desks.] PERSON 1 with ponytail: Welcome to Geology 201. Today we’ll be review-bombing Applebees. (2) [Person 1 points to board on wall.] PERSON 1: Tomorrow we’ll do Costco and Sephora. PERSON 2: Why? PERSON 1: If we cut traffic to the Northgate Shopping Center, it will go to the East Plaza instead. (3) [Board shows map.] This will push the state to cancel the North Bridge Project and shift funds to the Highway 2 Extension... (4) ...creating new roadcuts through Triassic shale. PERSON 2: I *like* Applebees. PERSON 1: Then you should have told the city to approve my dig permit.

Perseids xkcd.com/3287/
4-panel comic. (1) [Three people. The person on the left has shoulder-length hair; the person on the right has a white hat.] PERSON 1: I’m sad that we missed the Perseids. PERSON 2 with hat: There’s still the Geminids. PERSON 1: Yeah, but they’re in December. (2) PERSON 1: The Perseids happen when it’s warm enough to lie outside with a blanket, and we found a good mosquito-free beach. So we just lie around watching the stars and eating snacks. One year we saw the aurora. (3) PERSON 3 with shoulder-length hair: You know, I think I heard that the Perseids might be late this year. PERSON 2: Yeah, actually, I heard that too. (4) Later… [Three people lying down gazing up at stars in dark sky. One meteor is in the sky.] PERSON 3: Hm, seems like a normal number of meteors. Guess I heard wrong. PERSON 1: Maybe the Perseids are *next* weekend. PERSON 2: Oh, good thinking. Let’s come back then, just in case.

OK. Folks are asking for my research seminar AI statement in my syllabus. Here it is. I just wrote it. Might still tweak it.
I want to emphasize this. I see our time together in this seminar as a kind of pact. I do my best to give you a love of the topic under debate and to make you better writers; you, in turn, give me your best in class and in writing without Al assistance. Our mutual meeting place --student to teacher -- matters to me tremendously; I teach because I want to give you something of value. Use of AI erodes our pact, devaluing my teaching and your efforts.

(2) [Audience pictured listening] PERSON 1: Therefore, we are abolishing the *spring* time change *only*. We’ll gain an hour every year, but never lose one. (3) PERSON OFF-PANEL: Won’t that cause the clocks to spiral out of sync with the sun? PERSON 1 holding up a fist: *Then we will meet the chaos clear-eyed and well-rested!*

It is a scientific fact that no song has ever slapped harder than the 1977 Sesame Street funk/jazz Caribbean-infused banger "Pinball Number Count" by Walt Kraemer, Ed Bogas and The Pointer Sisters
Animation still of the segment, directed by Jeff Hale, recalling contemporary psychedelic and pop art styles, ornate pinball bumpers, colorful geometrical motifs and whimsical themes and devices inside the machine. Every color is present, and it is otherworldly and familiar all at once. It is bright trippy handdrawn animation that matches perfectly the stanky sound of the song

I sympathize that some clients use AI to organize their thoughts, but as a whole, I find clients using AI to draft their communications to me to be more of a barrier than a help to clear communication, because AI tends to throw in lots of chaff and inaccuracies that cause confusion.
