This is exactly how I talk about it too! I've seen Gen AI try to write good comms and it's always completely terrible (see - most of LinkedIn, a bunch of the newer FB 'nz politics influencer' types.
Screenshot of a tumblr post reading: recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

It’s one month since the disaster on the Nepal-China border. The media’s focus has moved on. It's yesterday's news. At least 1,450 lives lost, and over 5,700 still missing. Climate change was a key contributing factor. Our addiction to fossil fuels makes these events more likely. #greensky #nzpol

One of the things I wish I could have done for my mum before she died was to buy her a washing machine. It was one of the first things some of my Bangladeshi friends paid for when they got jobs as teenagers. Sadly, millions of women around the world still don’t benefit from having one.

Over the past few weeks, these are the tips I've found most useful and most effective on Facebook.
Hand holding a phone. On the screen, under a "Facebook Playbook" header:
#3
When you see posts
from the other side:
Keep on scrolling.
If you interact,
their post will spread.
That’s what they want!

Hand holding a phone. On the screen, under a "Facebook Playbook" header:
#4
In a group for your
local community
When you see toxic comments, appeal to community values:
“Hey! Here in Springfield, we show kindness and respect.”
Everyone wants to have pride in their home.
Calm conversation wins.

It's election time in NZ and Facebook is where lots of voters hang out. So, here's my Facebook Playbook.
Hand holding a phone. On the screen, under a "Facebook Playbook" header:
#1
Under a news post by mainstream media:
Comment with a direct quote from the article:
“Here’s the most important bit...”
Most people don’t click.
Bad actors rely on that.
Hand holding a phone. On the screen, under a "Facebook Playbook" header:
#2
Under a good post from
a friendly source:
Echo the key message
in your own words:“Yeah! I agree, the biggest priority is...”
Repeating the message makes it normal.
Casual readers will notice.

What's being described in the AI/EA community is not consensual group sex: it's coerced sex ("consensual non-consensual" they call it) with ppl who control your earning & advancement opportunities. It's revealing bc pressure to engage in group sex is ALSO a hallmark of mafia & criminal groups. 1/x
