Was lucky enough to attend a pre-release GDC presentation with the Titanfall 2 producers who effectively said “we hired the best level designers, told them to build something incredible, then we wrote a story around it” imo there’s no way modern games would give so much freedom over to individuals

I thought I’d try iOS 27’s alleged ability to search for email based on intent and natural language, not just keywords. It did not find my booking confirmation for next Sunday.

Yeah, I understand it's a tough time atm. Duolingo will get you reasonably far but I have found Babel a step-change on each language I've used it for. It's also got free tiers or paid monthly options if you want to give it a try.

Also, actual classes are great. If you find yourself plateauing, or really struggling with a particular element of grammar and syntax, a burst of proper tuition can help you over that hump. Since Covid there are so many remote tutors and group classes, so physical proximity is less important.

Our brains aren't going to absorb and retain things in the same way so you just gotta work hard at it. General tips, I find that Babel is a far better app than Duolingo but it's paid-for. You can often find comparatively cheap lifetime passes (~£150) through podcast promos.

I started learning Polish at 37 (after becoming passable at German in my 20s) and the only thing that's difficult about languages at our advanced ages is that the brain is less plastic so you need to treat it like actual homework and put real effort in.
