stargate is dead - or more operatively never actually existed. Norway was never happening. Next up on the deathwatch is Stargate Argentina, which was only ever a letter of intent. Also fair to ask whether OpenAI ever takes Oracle's data centers. www.wheresyoured.at/hatersguide-...
Flimsier Deals, Proposals, Discussions, and Letters of Intent
Stargate Argentina
A 500MW facility built and run by Sur Energy.
This deal is very, very dodgy, with Sur Energy not actually existing before the deal was signed. Oh, and obviously it’s yet another Letter of Intent deal.
Unknown commitments to NScale for Stargate Norway, where it has the “opportunity” to be an initial customer, with leave to increase its capacity.
“Stargate Norway is planned to deliver 230MW of capacity, with ambitions to expand by an additional 290MW. The facility will target to deliver 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs by the end of 2026, with the intention to expand significantly in the years ahead. OpenAI welcomes the opportunity to be an initial offtaker with the option to scale over time under the OpenAI for Countries program.”

Written 55 years ago, Schulz's heartfelt clarity cuts through the noise, even today. h/t @tisserand.bsky.social
Scan of a typed letter from 1970, from Peanuts creator Charles Schulz, addressed to "Joel Lipton, 622 N. Foothill Road, Beverly Hills, Calif. 90210"

It reads:

"Dear Joel:

I think it is more difficult these days to define what makes a good citizen than it has ever been before. Certainly all any of us can do is follow our own conscience and retain faith in our democracy. Sometimes it is the very people who cry out the loudest in favor of getting back to what they call "American Virtues" who lack this faith in our country.

I believe that our greatest strength lies always in the protection of our smallest minorities.

Sincerely yours,

Charles M. Schulz"
