PMS in one’s thirties is mad. I’ve spent the last week deeply upset my dog won’t live forever, worrying I’ll never have a baby, and finding Hans Zimmer’s Lion King soundtrack unbearably poignant to the point of tears

This gets said constantly, but it worth reiterating: Games Workshop being bigger than fishing is important to shout about because you wouldn't know it from government talking points, which are rarely about anything creative or artistic. Growth won't involve fish or steel, it will involve goblins.

There is one aspect of life in which I think men should actually bottle up their feelings MORE and not less, and it is: when they have a cold

Problem with having a garden now is I have to confront my horror of wet wildlife (worms, slugs, snails, frogs, etc). Dry wildlife? Not bothered. I'll catch spiders and put them outside all day long. Moths, daddy-long-legs, bees, wasps: I am entirely unfazed.

I have an irrational hatred of the phrase 'thought experiment', because to me it sounds like a man decided he couldn't possibly do anything so girly as to 'imagine a scenario', so he had to come up with a more MAN way of saying it

There’s a certain kind of man who looks up when I walk by with Noodle, and I think the type can best be described as “man who’s spent the afternoon building a pergola while listening to 6 Music”

That’s Life! was just incredible. Its two most famous moments are a man being movingly celebrated by the now grown Jewish children he got out of Nazi Germany & a dog saying “sausages”. No other programme has ever had that range.

Yesterday my friend alerted me to the fact that football fan fiction is a thing (don't know why this had never occurred to me; I spent a LOT of time on the Smallville fan fic forums as a kid) and apparently Van Dijk is the Premier League captain with the most written about him as it currently stands

My favorite is when people who have no experience of a thing think they can talk all day about a thing. If you don't have ADHD, then how do you "know" it's over-diagnosed? If you don't need SSRIs, then how do you "know" others don't need them? This is literally basic empathy.
