From The Times obit for Esther Rantzen. Nothing against Ms Rantzen but us dogsbodies trained for 9 months to “do the chores” and would like to see the obit writer survive “Red Light Fever” and operate the panel in a busy studio live on air or create believable sound effects for a convincing drama.

Currently reading the Doctor Who Magazine SE on the Eighth Doctor and was thinking, “Really? An interview with the guy who played the security guard? He has like 1-2 lines and is on screen for about 30 seconds.” Turns out Dee Jay Jackson is one of the best things in the entire mag!
Cover to the Doctor Who Magazine Special Edition celebrating 30 years of the Eighth Doctor.Pages 50-51 of the Doctor Who Magazine Special Edition featuring the first half of the interview with black Canadian actor Dee Jay Jackson, with a large photo of him as the stoic security guard from the Doctor Who TV movie and a B/W photo of him as a young man.

Damn, Coyote Vs Acme is great. It’s scary that a movie this much fun nearly ended up locked away in a vault for no one to see.

Did the financial expert guy on ABC News Breakfast just say ChatGPT was great for answering financial advice questions? In any other media, you need to give caveats and disclaimers attached to anything that someone might take as financial advice … but no, just ask AI how to plan your super!

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.
“In Dallas for the premier of '9 to 5', I had an uncanny experience, and on the plane home to Chicago I confessed it to Siskel: I had been granted a private half hour with Dolly Parton, and as we spoke I was filled with a strange ethereal grace. This was not spiritual, nor was it sexual. It was healing and comforting. Gene listened and said, "Roger, I felt the exact same thing during my interview with her." We looked at each other. What did this mean? Neither one of us ever felt that feeling again. From time to time we would refer to it in wonder.”

She also could tell a fuckin story
When the 1974 recording of the song reached number one on the country charts, Elvis Presley indicated that he wanted to record the song.
Parton was interested until Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker, told her that it was standard procedure for the songwriter to sign over half of the publishing rights to any song Elvis recorded.
[28] Parton refused. She recalls:
I said, 'I'm really sorry,' and I cried all night. I mean, it was like the worst thing. You know, it's like, Oh, my God... Elvis Presley.' And other people were saying, 'You're nuts. It's Elvis Presley!'...I said, 'I can't do that.
Something in my heart says, 'Don't do that. And I just didn't do it... He would have killed it. But anyway, so he didn't. Then when Whitney [Houston's version] came out, I made enough money to buy Graceland. 29]

Screenshot of Tweets that say:

"Once at my granny's house my uncle excitedly said a James Bond film was on the tv. My Da said "sure they're all the same, a load of lads shooting at one lad then a mountain blows up." My uncle got really mad at how reductive that was then became furious when the mountain blew up.

My Da, of course, knew it was the one where the mountain blows up at the end. This was a foundational lesson which illustrated to me that walking the path of the hater means knowing more about something that people who profess to like it."
