Between AI, sociopaths, and how readily people are to exploit others online, walled gardens are the only sane option I am sorry to say. Then again, even those are likely to be gone, given Australia, Europe, and the UK are ramming through laws to destroy digital privacy of any kind.

I mean, are we surprised? This is the party of Cameron and Osborne, which based insane austerity policies on a spreadsheet with completely screwed up calculations, then refused to change direction once that was made public.

Today's review is the 1998 pulp classic, Deep Rising. If you haven't seen a man digested by a squirming deep sea horror, you haven't lived...

Deep Rising (1998)
Deep Rising (1998) is an old favourite. I first saw it at a slightly rundown Carmike Cinema sitting atop a ghost-town of a shopping mall back home in South Carolina. The theatre was the sort of joint where you could get in without a ticket if you knew a member of staff and/or sold pot and I saw it with a group of high-school friends with whom I have not spoken since graduation. I remember there being a fight in the audience at one point, which included the brandishing of a pistol and someone accusing someone else of not cutting them in on something that they probably shouldn't have been talking about in public (or that loudly), and also two of my friends vanishing into the toilet during the third act for - well.
