This is a significant vulnerability & should be getting more attention. If bad actors want to bring a country to its knees, who needs weapons? Just target internet connectivity & cut off food supply. Chaos & riots will ensue within days.

Urgh. This is medieval barbarism designed to radicalise the population & desensitise them to extreme state violence.

Agree with this. AB also seems to have a blind spot re women & girls, whether as attendees of football matches who don't want drunk men around them, or AB's rhetoric about reindustrialisation i.e. male-coded jobs. Urgh.

Majority of football fans against drinking alcohol in stands — new poll www.thetimes.com/sport/footba... This reminds me of the smoking ban. At first people opposed it. But then they realised, they can go to the smoking area and socialise. On a match day, people drink before, and in the concourse

England is a made up thing. It has no basis in the ineluctable laws of nature. Its extent is defined by Edward II getting his arse handed to him. Athelstan conquering York. The Welsh of Cumbria were incorporated, the Welsh of Gwynedd were not. It is a political idea, an aspiration - not taxonomy.

Hundreds of thousands of retail jobs have been lost over the last decade. Often large job losses have been announced when a major retailer has gone under. Noone seems to care about those workers. No coincidence that retail is a predominantly female workforce.

Lots of talk of growth ahead of the Budget, as if it were a baroque puzzle. Our problem is basic. It's that we no longer support the things which facilitate growth: Europe, immigration, higher education, tax simplification, policy stability. These are all choices and could stop making them anytime.
