SNL UK is good and Danny Dyer was a great host with just the right kind of deranged up-for-it enthusiasm, should stop feeling surprised by this but it is real nice to be taken aback by something being better than expected

We celebrate Eva Marie Saint, who died today at 102. A #SagAftraMember since 1947, Saint won an Oscar for her film debut in 'On the Waterfront' and starred in 'North by Northwest.' An advocate for organized labor, she leaves an enduring example for generations of union members.

compute should be a public utility. it is entirely a product of other public utilities. compute regulatory boards should be elected and accountable to the public, with public meetings.

last week of evening lido swim sessions for the year, the sun king truly is dying! This is from yesterday's - last one tonight then no more until next summer ❤️👋
A picture of the Parliament Hill Lido taken by me after the evening swim yesterday. It's twilight and the light is indeed crepuscular. soft sunset, still deep blue pool, deep blue sky. black trees and white swim lane markers. the pavement says DIVING WITH CARE.

A friend of mine works in AI and thinks bad things are about to happen. He sold his home and moved his family out the country. He said that if you own a home in a walkable San Francisco neighborhood near a taqueria with good veggie options, you should sell your home for super cheap right now.

Trolley Problem
The trolley problem in two panels. trolley is approaching a switch. on one track is the roadrunner; there is nothing on the other track. standing to the side holding the lever is the coyote.
In the second panel the coyote has thrown a switch and the trolley has moved sideways off the tracks and has run over the coyote. the Road Runner stands there going MEEP, MEEP!

yesterday we went to a big open hill in north London to watch the sun be defeated by the moon, and there were loads of people in little groups hanging out and sharing eclipse glasses and eating snacks and generally having a nice time, and at the end some people applauded. the actual order of events from 2020-2024 gets strategically jumbled by reactionary centrists all the time. They love to blame 2024 on wokeness while skipping over the fact that Dems won in 2020. They talk about early COVID Iike it was a failure of Dem policy when Trump was in office.
