For a while now, @alisoneales.com and I have been obsessed with those AI nostalgia videos where Big Ben has a railway arch through the base, etc. She's just made the BEST observation. They all ask "who remembers those great days?", yet EVERYONE looks like they're about to put their head in an oven.

Fun night at The Portobello Bookshop's event for David Shrigley's book, Creative Writing. Michael Pedersen was on interviewing duties so I took my copy of his terrific novel, Muckle Flugga on the off-chance that I'd bump into him afterwards, and there he was in the bar. A pleasure to meet them both.

Enjoyed this. I've been a big fan of Eerie, Indiana since it was first shown on Channel 4 in 1993. I picked up the DVDs in a branch of Fopp for about £5 around 20 years ago.

I had a Saturday job in a baker's shop when I was 15. Just before we closed one day, I sold our last Happy Mother's Day cake to a young boy. The man behind him was so angry he had missed out that he asked for my name so he could tell his mum it was my fault that she didn't get her cake.

By posting some photos of ducks and robins to Instagram I became aware of a whole load of wholesome teenagers who are great at nature photography, and people comment "AI" on their work every day because they can't believe anyone online could simply be really good at something.

This has always been the case. “Go Woke, Get Broke” has always been clownish untruth. No movie has ever failed because of Black folks, POC, LQBTQ+, or women. There are a myriad of other reasons why some movies fail to connect. But bigoted chuds don’t have that kind of power.
