No true scientist will outsource the fun of the creative process to a machine. We must focus on finding and eradicating the science operators who will stop at nothing to get more recognition & power. The impostors can be identified. We need to rely more on the good old human interactions.

If you’re letting AI do a review of a manuscript for you, just know that (A) it’s super obvious to anyone reading it, (B) it’s dishonest - as you’re explicitly instructed not to do so, and (C) it’s careless - because you’re uploading someone’s confidential material to an AI app.

What's with articles on "how scientists will adapt" and "AI inevitability in science" these days? Speed and volume are not ends in themselves. If we prioritize efficiency over curiosity, we risk optimizing for what AI can do rather than what science is for.

‘The greatest ambassador for life on Earth’: Tributes paid to David Attenborough on his 100th birthday
Naturalist says he has been ‘overwhelmed by greetings’ as milestone is marked with event at Royal Albert Hall David Attenborough said he had been “completely overwhelmed by birthday greetings” for his centenary on Friday and thanked wellwishers “most sincerely”. The naturalist said he had hoped to celebrate his 100th birthday quietly. Instead, the milestone will be marked with a live event at the Royal Albert Hall broadcast on BBC One, featuring music from his programmes as well as stories and reflections from public figures and leading advocates for the natural world. In a recorded audio message shared on Thursday night, Attenborough said: “I had rather thought that I would celebrate my 100th birthday quietly, but it seems that many of you have had other ideas. Off the coast of Japan live a species of sea squirts, Clavelina ossipandae, the SKELETON PANDA SEA SQUIRT. These ascidians anchor to coral and spend their lives filter-feeding. Clavelina is Latin for "little bottle", and ossipandae means "panda bones". 🐼💀
Three pods of a sea squirt called the skeleton panda, so named because they have white blood vessels and black stripes across the anterior portion. They look like skeletons of a fish with panda stripes, anchored to colorful coral with red, orange and pink coloration.

The thing about destroying NIH is NIH’s scale in medical research just dwarfs everyone else. For ex, in 2023 the American Cancer Society gave out $64.5 million worth of grants. Sounds big, right? But NIH’s budget was $49 billion. With a B. Kill NIH and the floor drops out of US science.
