That was very much part of the argument, the idea that the profit motive was the best way to allocate resources. They gave examples like apparently Soviet shops were full of items that nobody wanted to buy.

A trans man in the UK has been banned in the workplace restrooms after he was forced to use the women's restrooms to comply with the new EHRC guidance. The women complained because he is visibly male and so they told him he can't use any bathroom.
A screenshot of a Reddit post from the r/LegalAdviceUK subreddit by user Dijstraanon, titled "FtM transgender facing two different issues at work? England."
The post text reads:
"Brother in law is trans FtM and presents fully as a man. He's now facing an impossible situation at work with his employer telling him that due to recent legislation he must use the toilet of his birth gender. BUT several female colleagues have raised a grievance about him using their gendered toilet.
His employer has told him that he cannot use the toilet while he is at work until they sort it out and cannot give him a timeframe to do so. They do [cut off] have disabled separate toilets.
In the mean time one of his female colleagues has accused him of sexual harassment because he was used their gendered toilet. His menstrual cycle meant he needed to use the toilet.
He's been with the employer for just over 5 years but only in this location for 18 months. The location is mainly male with just a handful of females, and his workshop only has male toilets.
I do not know how to support him and as he's not in a union there is no one to turn too right now."
The post has an orange "Comments Moderated" tag, 169 upvotes, and 134 comments.

Yes, there are polls about that. Only 1% of people actually care about trans issues enough for it to influence how they vote. I suspect most of those people are themselves trans.

It worked in Uxbridge with ULEZ, even though ULEZ was Boris Johnson's idea which Sadiq Khan enthusiastically agreed with, and almost everyone is exempt from it, my 13 year-old car is exempt because it meets the requirements.

Or rather incumbency advantage. Politics is ruled by the people who win elections under the current system, so they have no motivation to change it. Unless you end up with a 6-party system like the UK has over the past decade or so, then it just ends up being completely broken.

Wales has an approx 2 year waiting list, whereas England has about a 15 year waiting list and west of Scotland has a 200+ year waiting list. Waiting list is supposed to be no longer than 18 weeks.

This is by no means the fault of the WGS or gender clinicians themselves, but is a deeply disappointing and dangerous decision by higher-ups to play politics instead of person-centred care.

I've no doubt, but this bit is entirely self-inflicted. What we need is export taxes on energy products (oil, gas, electricity) sold to Trumpland.

The ticket inspectors just scan it in the same way as an Oyster or bank card. I once had to staff at a Zone 1 underground station about the barriers not opening, and they just let me in.

I have a travelcard on a non-TFL smartcard because I'm travelling from a station outside the TFL fare zones, and I've never had a problem. It takes a bit longer for TFL barriers to read it than an Oyster or bank card, but that's it.

"Practical guidance" which basically boils down to "have a specialist legal advisor on speed-dial". Going to the toilet is not an activity that should require specialist legal advice. This so-called "guidance" is completely unworkable.

If someone asks you “What is your sex?” In a toilet, they are the weirdo. If they ask you “What sex were you assigned at birth?” They want to know what your genitals looked like when you were a baby. I would look at anyone doing this in the same I would look at Rod Liddle talking about porn.
