Real personal income is now falling year-over-year, and for bottom 50% households it’s down even more sharply after months of declines, per @equitablegrowth.bsky.social. One straightforward place to start reversing that: raise the federal minimum wage, which has been stuck at $7.25 for 17 years.
Two bar charts compare monthly real income changes for all households versus the bottom 50% from 2024–2026. The bottom 50% show larger swings and steeper recent declines, while overall household income changes remain smaller and steadier.
