My first token for Tokentober 🥹 It's a fairy! My inspiration this year are the illustrations of Irish illustrator and stained glass artist Harry Clarke. The illustration I used as reference was made for the fairy tale "The Elf Hill" ca. 1916 (so yeah, technically an elf and not a fairy... 🤫)

Heute ist der internationale Tag des Übersetzens. Die aktuelle Situation ist für Übersetzende schlicht nicht nachhaltig und sorgt dafür, dass viele den Beruf aufgeben. Dabei würde ohne uns Leere in den Bücherregalen herrschen. Das gilt insebsondere für Manga. #weilesnichtreicht Mehr im Alt-Text:

Die prekäre Einkommenssituation von Übersetzenden wollen und können wir nicht länger hinnehmen!

Am Umsatz der Verlage haben wir einen wesentlichen Anteil, schließlich ist etwa jede 6. Neuerscheinung eine Übersetzung ins Deutsche. Dennoch erwirtschaften wir weniger als ein Drittel des deutschen Durchschnittseinkommens. (Quelle: VdÜ)

So kann es nicht weitergehen.

Immer mehr von uns geben ihren Beruf auf oder leben in immer prekäreren Verhältnissen, immer wieder wird auf unsere Situation hingewiesen, wie zuletzt durch die Studie des VdÜ zur Einkommenssituation, über die im März dieses Jahres sowohl im Buchmarkt als auch im Börsenblatt berichtet wurde.

Und es ändert sich: nichts!

Wir fordern ein Mindesthonorar von 30 € pro Normseite und eine Verkaufsbeteiligung ab dem 1. Exemplar. Derzeit liegt unser durchschnittliches Honorar bei 19,27 € – und unser durchschnittliches Jahresbrutto (!) bei knapp 20.000 €. Viele Kolleg*innen bekommen nur 15 € oder sogar 13 € pro Normseite. Davon können wir schlicht nicht leben. Wir fordern eine gerechte Entlohnung für alle Literaturübersetzer*innen!

A while ago, I dug up this bowl in the garden. The manufactory was operative from 1789 to 1951. I was amazed it was still intact.

Habe mich in letzter Zeit für meinen Connichi-Vortrag vermehrt mit niedlichen Characters beschäftigt und so ganz kann ich mich dem Einfluss nicht enziehen. Ein niedliches süßes Dessert, das oft vorkommt, ist dieser Pudding mit Karamellsoße... da musste ich dann heute beim Einkaufen auch zugreifen 🍮

After the Prerelease last night, I have updated my Galadriel-deck 💚🤍💙 I know she is not actually a good elf-Commander but I am just going for flavour here 😌 the mechanics are all over the place but we got some counters, some scrying and now some landfall in there too! ☺️
