In meinem Essay ,Das M-Wort‘ habe ich auch über Hans Litten geschrieben, einem der frühen Widerständler gegen Adolf Hitler und die NSDAP. Er war als Anwalt für die Rote Hilfe tätig und hat zahlreiche Mandante kostenlos übernommen, dabei selbst oft am Rande des Existenzminimums gelebt.

Am 8. Mai 1931 trat Adolf Hitler in den Zeugenstand des Schwurgerichts von Berlin-Moabit. Der erst 28-jährige Rechtsanwalt Hans Litten hatte ihn dorthin geladen.
Er war Vertreter der Nebenklage für die Opfer eines SA-Überfalls auf das Charlottenburger Versammlungslokal Edenpalast im November 1930. Ein Rollkommando des braunen Sturmtrupps hatte mit Schusswaffen, Stahlruten und Knüppeln bewaffnet eine Arbeiterversammlung gestürmt und zahlreiche Menschen zum Teil schwer ver-letzt. Mit der Vorladung Hitlers vor Gericht wollte Litten beweisen, dass es zur politischen Taktik der NSDAP gehörte, gewaltsam Chaos zu stiften, um die Weimarer Demokratie zu stürzen. Dies bewies Litten anhand einer von Goebbels verfassten Hetzschrift unter dem Titel
»Der Nazi-Sozi«, in der dieser dazu aufrief, die politischen Gegner aus dem Parlament »zu jagen«. Hitler distanzierte sich von dieser Schrift und beteuerte, man würde auf legalem Weg versuchen, an die Macht zu kommen. Argumentativ war er jedoch dem jungen Anwalt unterlegen und empfand die Vernehmung als schwere Demütigung. Der Name Litten durfte auch Jahre später ihm gegenüber nicht erwähnt werden.
Dennoch war Littens Versuch, die gewalttätigen Absichten

der NSDAP offenzulegen, vergeblich. Der Richter befand, dass der Hintergrund des SA-Überfalls nichts mit seinem Prozess zu tun habe, und verhandelte lediglich die Schuld an den Körperverletzungen.
Hans Litten erkannte früh, um welches Gewaltregime es sich bei den Nazis handeln würde. Lange schon, bevor sie wirklich an die Macht kamen. Seinen Versuch, die Katastrophe zu verhindern, zahlte er mit dem Leben. Bereits im Februar 1933 wurde er als einer der ersten in sogenannte
»Schutzhaft« genommenen. Nach fünf Jahren wieder-kehrender, brutaler Misshandlungen in verschiedenen Konzentrationslagern nahm Hans Litten sich 1938 im
KZ Dachau das Leben.

One of the things to come from GamerGate was the gamification of torturing real, live women...hounding them out of their homes, making them look over their shoulders for years.
