Three panel comic. Panel 1: a horseshoe crab watches as a variety of prehistoric creatures swim towards an ethereal light. An ammonite calls back to the crab, “come on, horseshoe crab! We’re all evolving!” Panel 2: the horseshoe crab stays in position and replies, “nahh that’s crazy” Panel 3: the horseshoe crab is superimposed in front of a future premonition: a rather miserable-looking human slouched in the glow of a desktop computer. A gentle reminder that if we miss the 1.5°C target (and we certainly will), the next target is 1.51°C and not 2°C. We need to keep fighting. Every tonne of CO₂ emitted makes the job of future CO₂ removal harder, and every 0.01°C of temperature increase makes the world more chaotic and dangerous.
Cover from The Economist from two years ago "Say goodbye to 1.5°C; why climate policy is off target". It has a graphic of the Earth with an apple on its head, and a arrow shot through the Earth.

Just what Wellington needs. More job cuts. 👍
Ethan Manera
Wellington Reporter • NZ Herald
Wellington City Council staff have been called to meetings this week regarding a proposed restructure that could impact dozens of staff, the Herald understands.
The proposals would cut staff from the council's climate change response, planning, communications, property, and events teams.
The cuts, which could affect up to 50 staff members, come after a cost-saving effort led by Deputy Mayor Ben McNulty, as well as an independent report which found the council was overstaffed in the hundreds.
