www.climatecommission.govt.nz/assets/Monit... I really want to know why the climate commission’s data isn’t being used in this series. I’ve emailed the journo, hopefully it can be corrected

The SH1 changes in Wellington will still be put forward for Fast-track approval. The next government will decide whether this goes ahead - as decisions will fall after the election. It’s time to ask local candidates whether their parties believe urban highway expansion in a climate crisis is ok!
From NZTA: We are continuing work to finalise our application for statutory approvals under the Fast-track Approvals Act (FTAA). We expect to lodge our application in August and complete this work over the next year.

WCC voted in 2025 to: Requests officers to seek an independent review of the project (option 3) to determine
the validity of whether the project remains strategically aligned considering changes in
cost and risk, updated benefit cost ratio assessments, and which includes an analysis of
short and longer term construction economic impacts to Wellington’s CBD.

Go on anti bike people, engage. Comment. It just spreads the good word against car dependence in an oil crisis further. Ehehehehehe

Dixon, Cuba, Manners, Abel Smith, Wigan, Leeds, Ghuznee, it should all be closed to cars immediately. Have a 1/10th sized CubaDupa every weekend. A market for every queer crafty person in this gorgeous city. Pedestrianise, not in five years, now.

It’s astounding how much consultation was done with LGWM when Wellingtonians just wanted and still want trams. Somehow a highway will have “spades in the ground” within three years, but light rail was going to take 25 years

I’m sure this will be entirely positive and not at all bad for climate change while the nation grieves after a climate disaster

Rates have been going up too much because we underfunded replacing assets! Good news though, we found a way to stop rates going up so much It’s underfunding the replacement of *different* assets Looool

Presenting to Wellington city council about the golden mile today… if you want a sneak peak of what my speech is about
Dr manhattan meme representing the awful experience of time falling through my fingers by like sand as the golden mile continues to get deferred and delayed.

Inspired by @thewaroncars.bsky.social’s book, so I’m trying to help support people focused places here in Wellington! Let’s mobilise to get more space for people in our city 💟

Life after Cars by @thewaroncars.bsky.social nails how much better life will be when we stop designing streets for cars. Streets made for people to enjoy are amazing; challenging, inspiring, connecting us. Streets for cars make us sad. Streets for people revitalise us.

I also thought maybe I missed something... maybe in the National/ACT/NZ First coalition agreements there was a carveout so ACT/NZ First could botch National's plan. Nope. They didn't concede on anything to do with pricing methane. National could've stood their ground????

They were talking about "no additional warming" in 2023. Well signalled, but crucially there's no government incentive to meet the weakened targets now. And under this government, there never will be.

Technically, they never used the word promise. Technically I never used the word promise when agreeing to pay my mortgage. So maybe I can just stop paying my mortgage with no consequences if I treat it like an election commitment lol

Catching up on the Government's suite of atrocious methane policy changes. Todd McClay said on Morning Report that the National Party didn't promise to price methane emissions on farm. Not true.

They found tram tracks that haven’t been used in 60 years during the golden mile work. Back when we abandoned the Wellington trams, we just put tarmac over them!
