Today would've been the sixty-fifth birthday of Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi. It tends to get swallowed up in the enormous franchise it became, but I truly believe that his original manga can provide a valuable lesson to artists about process and work and improvement over time.

The Amazon approach to subtitles is pretty good for accessibility options compared to Netflix (which will let you change size, but doesn't have colour/contrast options) and Crunchyroll (where it is non-existent).
Amazon subtitle settings offering 5 sizes of subtitle and 4 preset colour options.

Also anime production committees might want to think more about international presentation, and eliminate these problems at the source. I'm very curious about why the most recent Gag Manga Biyori that ran on Amazon really cut down on signage gags compared to the previous 4 seasons.

Miracle energy source not as miraculous as initially expected.
A chamber in the undersea palace from episode 10 of Goodbye Lara, stacked with giant clamshells that serve as hibernation pods for the mermaid princesses. The deep sea kingdom consumes the true love of their princesses to produce the light and energy it depends on.An enormous mound of spent Shizuma drives from part 6 of Giant Robo. The Shizuma drives promised clean renewable energy but were also producing emissions that could create a chain reaction that would consume the Earth's atmosphere.

I also resent the idea that people who declare themselves to be lovers of trash present themselves as enlightened and uninhibited. Everyone has a gag reflex and I’m sure there’s a form of reading that appals them. Novelisations of screenplays, usually.

We've had the ability to watch, say, Counterstrike marathons, Street Fighter tournaments, or chess matches between computers since the 90s. Spectacles which, by their very definition, would be at a "higher standard" than human play. And nobody wants it. It's entirely meaningless. It has no appeal.

Every time a discourse kicks off over whether AI music, literature or art will be "as good as" the real thing, I'm always amazed more people don't cite that **there already are** creative pursuits where human-free spectacles have been available for decades, and nobody has ever wanted to watch them.

While it's important to be accurate it's also important to be understood when communicating about anything. If you insist on needless obfuscation when you're talking to somebody, least of all about how much you like cartoons, you may be more concerned with being "right" than making a connection.

The DUP and SF have been in a staring contest over who will collapse stormont first and I don't see how that won't happen when a load of people get battered off the road by the PSNI so 35 pricks, who've been using an alternative route for 28 years, can march down a road full of taigs.

My favorite TMNT fact is that Peter Chung was the one who came up with making Krang's robot look like that. His explanation was that robots in Dimension X are SO advanced that they don't look like normal robots.

Tuned back into Judo Boy on a weird episode since it returned to HiDive. While exploring an Egyptian tomb Sanshiro encounters the ghost of Princess Nile, named after the river. In effect this has Sanshiro repeatedly shouting my name at me for the next 15 minutes.

Unclear how much if any input was used but Frank Miller was at least -in the room- when they were discussing how to kill off Optimus Prime.
Excerpt of an old interview from Topless Robot with Transformers writer Flint Dille.

TR: Can you talk about writing his death scene?

FD: Well, Gerber and I were trying to figure out how to kill Optimus, and we probably re-wrote that scene at least five-hundred times. And one day he tells me that he’s got some comic book guy coming over to the office for lunch. So the guy comes in, and he’s been working on some Batman book, and we start talking about killing Optimus. And I mentioned that I wanted to do it like Davy Crockett dying in The Alamo. You know, that old John Wayne movie? And the comic guy says, “Have you heard of The 300 Spartans? You should do it like that!” And of course, it was Frank Miller.
