The problem with this government's response to AI is they're treating it like any other tech wave, as if it was "the cloud" or "the information superhighway": fund research, back local champions, push for training. But AI is messier, more destructive, disliked, and may yet prove to be a bubble

Going through some old stuff from 2022 and it now seems undeniable that Amy Schumer singlehandedly destroyed the crypto hype with her set at Apefest where she guessed, based on looking at the crowd, that NFT must mean "Not Fucking Tonight"

Swedish power metal band Sabaton played Halifax today, and although I'm not really a fan my cousin and his grandson had an extra ticket, so along I went. And it was a fun show! All their songs are about military history so of course the stage had tanks.

No one planned properly for latest construction on the Mackay/Windsor St exchange. No extra ferry services. No shuttles. Just letting our city come to a grinding halt in traffic. This is absolutely the fault of municipal and provincial planning. Or lack thereof. #nspoli #halifaxtraffic

Listening to the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs live at Albert Hall. I know them mostly from "Fever to Tell" and "It's Blitz" and I have to say I miss the raw intensity. This version of "Maps" sounds like a storm flashing on the horizon, the original has you lashed to the mast in the full face of it.

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.
Screenshot for a Defector podcast episode with the headline "Consider the Emotional Lives of Scallops" only the accompanying photo is a white gormless stubbled red-headed UK singer of recent notoriety giving a flat smile to the camera while wearing a washed out peach top as beige as he is against a flat background. So, actually, probably a scallop anyway.
