Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

Two hours later, WBBM News Radio is reporting the DuSable Lake Shore Drive bridge is still stuck in upright position. Reported solution is to fully raise it again to let Spirit of Chicago escape back to the lake, and then try to lower it again from that position.a

It's strange to process ICE activity post-Operation Midway Blitz. ICE activity has been increasing. My social media feed is again full of rapid response alerts. But there's so much less attention on it media wise locally and nationally. The intensity/figures/branding made it a focal point last fall.

CPS started on Monday, and folks have been remarking on the increased morning traffic. According to the most recent data for the Chicago region, about 7% of all car trips are related to K-12 pickup/drop-off. The trips peak during the 7 o'clock hour, when 1 in 5 drivers are on school runs.

Through July 12, ICE averaged 1,432 arrests a day. From then through the end of the month, the daily average increased to 1,450. Through the first seven months of the year, ICE has sent more than 238,000 people into detention facilities.
