Amazing to read this as I'm reading @natashanyt.bsky.social's new book, Coding Kids. All the strategies are here: stroking educator egos, using celebrities, making grants, and more. Have to love this superintendent contracting with OpenAI and Salesforce first, developing an AI policy later.

In a Google AI teacher training session today, Gemini turned my new book, "Coding Kids," into a four-slide story for students. TLDR: Big Tech captures the classroom. But a "brave teacher" saves the day, helping kids become "true critical thinkers."

Thanks @newyorker.com ! “Coding Kids is an even-tempered yet withering narrative of how the nation’s public schools came under the spell of private corporations."

Is it more important for schools to train children to use chatbots -- or to equip kids to examine how A.I. is steering us? We delve into the global A.I. education/skilling debate in today's @nytimes.com's The World newsletter: www.nytimes.com/2026/09/09/w...

I worked in #edtech, as an exec & industry consultant, for nearly 30 years. What @natashanyt.bsky.social describes — accurately & fairly, IMHO — shows how much education technology has changed since around 2010 when iPads as cheap devices plus widespread broadband began to make edtech ubiquitous.
